    Completely different argument. Fans come to the game to see the players. If the MLB were to mass-fire every single umpire, and replace them with college/minor league level umpires, would anyone even notice the difference?

    There are a handful of posters on here that you'll probably notice are here for pretty much every game thread. Day games are tough for some people to watch, and the summer isn't always the easiest time to simply just have the 25+ hours a week.

    If there ever was a more perfect time for the Red Sox to run a smear campaign, it would be with Victor Martinez, who was being replaced by a player who-- at the time-- seemed like he was going to be a significantly big dropoff in production. And yet, he seems like one of the more loved guys to have moved on to other clubs.

    Loyalty means more than money. Theo may do things differently, but in all fairness, none of his guys won five championships.

    Darnell will probably stay on the roster when Lowrie is activated. Aviles is not ready to be a 4th OF. The Sox are carrying an extra RP right now, with a short bench, probably to rest the bullpen during this 20 consecutive game streak. Randy Williams is the most likely candidate to be taken off the roster today, with Darnell following to correspond to the Drew move.

    How is that being a prick? He's having an amazing season. Some of the best pitchers in baseball have big guts, including AL East beasts Jon Lester and CC Sabathia. I'd simply prefer to think he knows what he's doing.

    Its a lose-lose no matter how you look at it. The alternative is to cut the guy, show a continued lack of loyalty to franchise players, Posada gives negative comments to the press, his teammates get pissed, and Montero's big day gets ruined by Posada commentary.

    Wakefield was lit up against the Twins early on the season when their offense was mostly AAA guys. Hopefully he can do some damage against their lineup tonight.

    Beckett is currently having the best season of his career. Why worry about it?

    At this point, why would they cut Posada? Rosters expand on September 1st, so they can phantom DL him until then, and sit him on the bench for the rest of the season, with a few farewell ABs. Sure he won't be happy about it, but that's the best way for him to save face.

    Former top 100 BAA prospect, Junicha Tazawa has looked pretty solid in AA lately. Wonder how long it'll take to stretch him out, or if he'll ever make it back to the majors.

    If Crawford hits 5 walkoff hits this season, he should be officially off the hook for 2011.
