  1. My team is getting destroyed, so I am looking for trades. Anyone interested in Heyward? He's struggling right now, but he is a beast in a contract year. I just can't afford to stash him till he warms up. Jose Fernandez may also be available -- the roster spot is painful right now.
  2. The Rays are scrubs. f*** 'em. It is a battle of former Tigers. Tonight, Rick will start to earn his ace money against Drew Smyly.
  3. He has 3 quality starts, and a 5 IP 1 ER game. He has probably been the second best starter on this team so far, but that's not saying much.
  4. Also, does anyone else feel like it is time to DFA Buchholz? Here are his ERAs from the last four years: 6.03 ERA, 30IP 5.34 ERA, 170 IP 1.74 ERA, 108 IP 4.56 ERA, 190 IP 2013 looks very clearly like the outlier here. He's getting older, his pitches are only getting worse, and he's killing this team. He's already had 4 games where he basically handed the other team a win. I still have hope for the other guys, but Buch looks done.
  5. Did anyone get to a bar for this one? The numbers were insane... the cable companies were charging bars $30 x full capacity, and only a few bars in Boston showed it because they would end up having to pay thousands to show it. We tried hard to find a legal way to watch it, but ended up failing, and streaming bootleg online. "Fight of the century" turned out pretty lackluster.
  6. I'll be at this game. Hopefully we start to see what Miley is capable of. My prediction is 25-0 Red Sox.
  7. If you're going to have injuries happen, it might as well be at positions where you have high end prospects to replace them. Catchers usually need extra time in the minors, but hopefully Swihart is the exception to a lot of rules.
  8. Masterson's velocity is way down, but so far the results have been respectable for most of his starts.
  9. So you want to put an entire lineup of lefties in huh? Tommy Layne Train bitches!
  10. This is a debate that will go on for years I imagine. iOrtiz, and others, are not going to change their opinion on this unless Porcello performs like an ace, because 20 million is "ace money". The opposing side of the money isn't going to change their opinion either.
  11. If I were to bet on which player is worth his price over the course of a contract, my first choice is Ogando. High speed fastball in a low speed bullpen, very cheap, so far effective.
  12. I think there are three possible mindsets we can have about the rotation If you're pessimistic about the starting rotation, the Red Sox need two+ elite pitchers and probably won't want to spend the resources to acquire them all. If you're realistic about the starting rotation, the staff isn't nearly as awful as it has shown, and the team needs one elite pitcher to push them over the top to contend for the playoffs, and maybe get some support from the minors/available depth pitchers. If you're optimistic about the starting rotation, then you're probably crazy.
  13. Aces aren't moving yet. The Red Sox probably go after a middle rotation guy first. Texas is already 7 games back, so Gallardo will probably be in play. Brewers 10 games back, Garza. Oakland 6 games, Kazmir. None of those guys are going to be pricey. I still see the Red Sox going hard after Strasburg, but he's going to cost someone from the major league roster. The Reds look like toast after losing Bailey, so Cueto is out there. It is still early, but it already seems like there are plenty of bad teams with players to steal. There are plenty of options.
  14. Porcello's numbers so far have been pretty good besides the 5 IP, 8 ER stinker. Besides that, he's pitching to 7 IP a game, 1.00 WHIP, 4.00 ERA, 8 K/9. Hell, look at his opponents, Washington, Baltimore, Baltimore, Toronoto -- those are excellent offenses, besides Philly. If he can get some games in against the Astros and Twins he'll start looking more like a #2.
  15. Can we please close the "Is the actual rotation the worst in the last 10 Y?" thread? It has been a troll fest/ e-peen competition from the beginning and seems to just get worse every day.
  16. The Angels still have him signed for 7 more years at 25 million a year. Wow.
  17. Every time I watch Mookie play, I feel like he must have MVP-like stats, then I take a look, and he's floating around Mendoza. It is baffling.
  18. We have seen 3 great starts from Buchholz, and one historically bad one. I wonder how today will go.
  19. Lester has a 6.20 ERA in a cake division. Scherzer is on the DL with a thumb injury. James Shields is a great pitcher, but I'm not surprised they didn't want to pay him till he is 38.
  20. There isn't a "Not enough information yet" option.
  21. Saying Miley has s*** the bed is different than saying that Miley's contract is a bust.
  22. You weren't going to find another pitcher who throws 200ip at a 3.90 ERA under 30 years old for a good cost. The move was excellent at the time, Miley just s*** the bed here. Worst case scenario, that contract is still moveable.
