  1. The more I look at the price tag, the less it makes sense. We already have a high talent pitcher with a "minor" neck injury.
  2. Word is that the Phillies don't want to eat a penny of the contract though. I wouldn't give 3 top 100 prospects for a 34 year old at that price. That's a trade that you're just asking to get burned on.
  3. I think the problem has been the lack of quality arms, rather than an inability to transition pitchers. Having talent like Tazawa, Miller, and Wilson ready to make the transition has helped the club significantly this year.
  4. Was the game delayed? That could end up being a miracle for the Sox. Getting Price out an inning or two early makes this game much more winnable.
  5. It feels like the game has been over since the one run... but we're one shot away from this being a ballgame.
  6. There's always a mystery suitor.
  7. I'm just concerned that he's at 52 pitches through 3, despite 2 GIDP.
  8. Overall, sure, but I'm referring to per start. Doubront has averaged 5.85 innings, while Price has averaged 6.85.
  9. As of this second, Doubront and Price both have 3.71 ERAs. Its a shame Doubront doesn't quite have the innings yet.
  10. Reports on multiple teams give the impression that GMs don't want to pay the price, AND give the prospects. I'd say he still gets traded, but if they have to either pay another team to take him, or get middling prospects in return, why bother? It probably makes sense from their organization's standpoint.
  11. Boston's advantage is that they do have the money involved here. Teams like Oakland and Atlanta aren't quite as flush.
  12. When talking about Gonzalez, John Henry mentioned that the team's viewpoint is that they really would prefer not to touch prospects, and money is a lot easier to spend than dropping top talent. Hopefully that goes the same for Wilson.
  13. Doubront faced Price last week, and we saw how that one went. I'd rather have Doubront match up against somehow who doesn't have a 50/50 chance of shutting out the Sox.
  14. The Tigers would be foolish not to pursue him as well. They seem to be in on all the other major relievers available.
  15. 7 shutout innings against the 3rd best offense in the MLB. It is a huge development to see that from Lester.
  16. You never know, things can always change. Remember when we were all saying the John Lackey was the worst contract in baseball?
  17. Iglesias and Pedroia... man what a combination.
  18. XB has a .880 OPS with a .380 OBP in AAA. WMB has a .820 OPS with a .320 OBP in AAA. I think I'd prefer the 30 time future all-star at 3B.
  19. Sorry about that, you just struck a nerve there -- two haymakers in a row there. I agree with you though, Tropic Thunder is pretty awesome.
  20. I am a very simple person with simple views on life. My favorite color is grey, I listen to alternative rock, and my favorite position is missionary. If anyone is into that kind of thing, I'm sure it must be an worthwhile lifestyle choice, but it doesn't particularly interest me.
  21. I'm not even sure how to respond to that.
  22. Cecchini + Ranaudo + 1 is probably the best Amaro will get. There are only a handful of teams who would be able to spend the huge money and give up two top 50 prospects.
  23. My guess is probably not. But it was recent enough that I'm not ruling it out.
  24. My computer has been ravaged the last few days. Screen resolution has been cut in half, connections to programs going haywire, and my RAM is pretty much toast. I'd recommend everyone absolutely make sure they didn't catch anything... will be spending my night reformatting.
