  1. No they are not. There is no substance to that argument, and furthermore, I was not trying to make that point. Ever. It is team effort, and nothing but team effort. A QB is merely a piece to that puzzle, and there's nothing substantial you could really say towards the argument that he is indeed the biggest factor in games.
  2. QB Rating is a poor metric that fails in every aspect. Someone who completes 10/12 passes for 1 TD, 0 interceptions and 120 yards will get a higher rating than someone who was 30/50 with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions with 400 yards. There's something wrong with that. Aside from that, it's generally known that John Elway was on horseshit teams until about the mid-90s. Even if this isn't enough, QB ratings is s***. Winning football games is a team stat. If he finishes with a higher winning percentage than Peyton Manning, does it make him the better player? Nope, does not. The whole winning games thing is a crock of s*** that allows pitchers to win Cy Young awards despite inferior ERA, strikeouts, or other more reliable stats, simply because they had 4 or 5 more wins than everyone else. This is why the only unit that should be measured by wins is the team. No singular player. If you're too thick to realize that, then I guess we've solved our mystery as to why you keep googling your arguments.
  3. 1. He did not improve a considerable amount from one season to the other. His completion rate was as sorry as ever, his interception rate improved and his total yardage improved. He still throws a low rate of TDs, completes a low rate of passes, and I think it was implied that it is indeed a guess that he's not going to amount to anything. That's beside the point. He is not a star, that was the point. If you're not disputing that, then there's nothing for you to dispute.
  4. Lol, if I google this I better not find this lifted from a post at Hardcore Hoops Forums (idk if this place even exists, if it does, I'm psychic). Well for one, those are of a very small sample size, he's no good in the regular season through two season, and he's been decent in the playoffs with a offense that Peyton Manning would kill the have with Edwards, Santonio Holmes, etc. Good quarterbacks who are "stars" put up those numbers every day, even better numbers actually. Just because you cherrypicked some random fact that no one really cares about does not make this a good argument. He isn't a star, he never has been one, he never will be. He was overrated when they drafted him, and he's even more overrated right now. What's challenging is that he could even be overrated with such terrible numbers.
  5. He's also a 150 million dollar investment. If it helps him to be 100% to take a game or two off here and there, then so be it. It's easy for us to talk about how big a wuss he sounds like for having a sore neck or as lots of you dirt dog lovers would say, a "broken pussy". I'd sure as s*** rather be cautious than force him to play. Considering he has a history of playing every day (he has averaged right around 160 games per season) I think it's safe to say that it must be somewhat painful to work through if he's sitting out.
  6. This ballgame is ovuhhhh.
  7. Lol, that wasn't biased at all.
  8. Say WHAT?! You're having a blowout sale on STRAW?! !!
  9. I agree, but that's because it's not putting yourself on the team like you did something other than cheer.
  10. *ever And lol, you're still not a member of the Boston Red Sox. If you think the players really think the fans make a huge difference and aren't just looking for PR for the most part, that's your issue. I don't pretend to know how fans impact the game out on the field, so from what I can see, it's very limited. That's just me, though. I also don't recall ever saying the players never credit the fans for pumping them up and what not. We've got straw here folks! Get your straw!
  11. Well, nothing's sacred, so it will probably happen in just a matter of time.
  12. No, the fans do not work with the team or anything like that. We sit at home with pizzas and burgers and complain most of the time while they do all the work. If there were no players, then we wouldn't give a crap about baseball anyways to begin with, because it doesn't exist. Without the fans, the sport exists, but there is no marketability. This does not entitle them to consider themselves part of the team. The fans cheering isn't the issue here, it's the money. The ego is only secondary. Without the fans, there's no one buying gear, no season ticket holders, no people buying their massively overpriced ballpark food, no nothing. Thus, the athletes could not get paid, because there's no reason for it. The fans are the big factor here, however, this should not entitle us to anything other than being a fan.
  13. Do you know Red Sox players personally to get a accurate feel as to whether or not this holds true in reality? I have a feeling you're just making a wild guess on this one, which may or may not be true. Regardless, it would be pretty blatantly disrespectful to say to David Ortiz maaan we really killed 'em tonight didn't we? I'm sure he wouldn't care really, considering you're a fan who may or may not contribute to the team's wealth. Regardless, in the back of his mind I'm sure he would be thinking "who the hell is this guy, and why is he a 'we'?" It's pretty tacky to be honest.
  14. I say "we" all the time, just by habit. It is correct to say "they", not because "we" is entitled sounding, but because like Jerry Seinfeld said: "No, THEY won, YOU watched". I'm hypocritical I guess, but only because of habit, I actually try to say "they" as much as I can, I just forget all the time. Fans are definitely sort of part of the team if they're buying merchandise, being a part of the community, etc. I still don't think it's correct to say "we", but some people really make a big deal out of it. It doesn't matter, but it still holds true "they won, you watched". Sort of disrespectful of the athletes when you think about some of the slobs who say "we" that are sitting on the couch, most of which are criticizing the team all season, pissing & moaning, etc.
  15. Lol I thought it was pretty great when he said that BR's WAR was better for career values, like Beckett's had a better career than CC or something.
  16. LOL, if there wasn't so much you'd have to understand before this quote to get it, I would put this in my sig.
  17. LMFAO, wow, even when he's right he had to lift it from another site.
