  1. Not manning up should not justify being a scapegoat for something that could have been prevented. The guy who gave up the lead and threw the wild pitch is never blamed. Why is that? Just like the Cubs could have prevented the Marlins' rally by, well, pitching better for one.
  2. I'm retiring when I hit 9001.
  3. the Catching Hell documentary was pretty interesting. Buckner f***ed up, but there was a series of f***-ups leading up to that, which allowed it to happen. The Red Sox should have closed that thing out before it even had the chance of happening like that.
  4. I fully expect Carpenter vs. Gallardo to be epic.
  5. The Twins just s*** themselves when they face the Yankees. There are lots of epic battles that go extras or whatever, but then Gardy puts in some guy who has a ERA in the double-digits to face A-Rod and Tex. Wasn't Guerrier's line vs A-Rod and Tex like 8/12 with like 6 home runs or some s***? I've never seen one team bully another team for years and years, but even since I've watched the games, I've seen the Twins beat the Yankees maybe 10 times. Like once per year maybe, usually they get swept.

In this horrid season where there was never hope, there is a bright spot. Jared is wrecking.
  7. Well the Phillies should have won it, they were never in bad shape, they just fell victim to the playoffs crap shoot. It really is exactly that, because the powerhouse teams rarely win it, and its fairly common to see the underdog win it. It's not like basketball, in basketball, the best team almost always will come out on top in 7 games. The Bulls never blew it, the Lakers and Celtics were always giving each other fits, but they always made it far, they never didn't make the playoffs unexpectedly, or get bounced out in an upset. In basketball, there has never been a 16 seed to defeat a 1 seed in the NCAAs. Playoff baseball is just different. A scrappy team that barely made it in can give the powerhouse a run for their money every year, that's what we saw with the Cards here, and when they won it in 2006.
  8. I wanted Texas to win last year, and I do this year as well. I really like this team, and I was saying to my friend that I think regardless of who makes the ALCS will lose to the Rangers. I actually think this will go 7 games still, or at least hope it will. I just don't see very many teams that have what it takes to beat the Rangers in 7 games or less, that lineup is just a force, capable of running wild on any pitcher. I think in the entire playoffs, the Brewers have the best chance to beat the Rangers now that the Phillies have been eliminated, but of course I didn't think any team would realistically be able to beat the Phillies, and the Cards pulled it off. That's the beauty of the playoffs, anything can happen, and you should expect the unexpected.
  9. Doug Fister is the best porn name of all time. I just want to hear "Fister rings him up with the backdoor slider" someday.
  10. Post count and level of cockiness doesn't give you divine right, post count, cockiness, and not having grown up during the McKinley administration does. Sorry a700, you're not a monarch here at Talksox.
  11. Please, not Vazquez or Garland. They're both garbage.
  12. Go Rangers!
  13. That was The Boyfriend Pt. 1. The Magic Loogie Theory LOL.
  14. He did, but he tried to get fired so he could take a job with the Mets.
  15. Dice's contract just isn't bad enough to want to dump. Now if we could get them to reimburse us for the posting fee......
  16. I think if we traded them two guys named Seinfeld and Kramer they would give us Heyward just for the hell of it. We could through in a Newman and a Benes too if we had to.
  17. ^That. Look at all the teams with history, Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, Cardinals, all of them have had the same uniform for years.
  18. If I had a choice between any ace to build a new franchise around, I would pick Verlander. Not only does he have the stuff, he'll give you over 200 innings every year, and for the last three seasons 220 innings or more. He's led the league two out of three of those seasons as well. On top of that he's not even 30 yet. He seems like the type of player who could be effective late into his career.
  19. I'm going to get a Theo jersey with the number 9001 made, somehow.
  20. Baseball isn't just a business. Why are you even trying to look at it from the business POV anyways?
  21. Sure there is. Not winning does not mean the team wasn't built to win. It's sort of like when a Quarterback is getting criticized because his receivers are dropping the balls, all the QB can do is get it there.
