  1. Once again, a team pulls a LHP out of the bullpen to start against the Red Sox. The blueprint has become obvious around the league. Clearly, the opposition prefers the Sox' RHd platoon lineup. This team just doesn't look right to me for Fenway.
  2. 'Bout time they got something for Scutaro.
  3. Ha. I just got another email from MLB.com. It says thank you for voting. How would you like to vote another 25 times? Just click here. I kid you not.
  4. I got an email all-star ballot from MLB.com. They let you vote 25 TIMES per email address. Anybody wonder why there are six Yankee players leading the current all-star voting? Well, there's your answer. The all-star balloting is a joke. So is the all-star game, which is basically a media-driven exhibition. What isn't a joke is it determines the home field advantage in the World Series. :thumbdown
  5. CC hit over .300 in May. Wake up. Did I say Wake? Pedey can hit anywhere. Ells and CC at 1-2 could be a terror if used properly. It'll happen, because Tito started the season that way.
  6. This could mean we are stuck seeing Wake for awhile holding back the farm system. Pitching just good enough every other game. Meanwhile in NY, Colon and Garcia are pitching way over their heads and the Yankees are hitting HRs at a record pace. Must be the water.
  7. Somebody wake Tito up and remind him CC should be batting 2nd now that he's himself again at the plate. He's not stealing bases in the 6-hole, which tells me he's a bit confused about his role. I think Tito's a bit confused, too, which is understandable considering all that talent he has to shuffle around. But he has to know he can't get pure CC until the guy is batting 2nd and stealing bases with Ellsbury. Those two guys can score a run with two walks and 3 steals batting 1-2. Trouble is, Tito does not value smallball.
  8. Just like old times for Papi.
  9. The main part of a manager's job is to handle the players--and the media. And play ball with the front office. Tito appears to do all those things well. He is a survivor. He learned from his first job with the Phillies. The minor part of his job is to make out the lineup and manage a game. That's where some of the lawyers and rocket scientists who populate chatgroups have plenty of fuel to second guess him. None of this will affect Tito's job, because the front office consistently gives him a failsafe team. The guy can't miss, even if he doesn't always shoot straight. Bingo.
  10. Pedroia has been hitting less than .200 until the last few games--and Tito has kept him in the 2-hole. Of course, CC was hitting about .150 at the same time. Now that both guys are on the upswing, it's time for Tito to tweak that lineup again, and get the speed at the top of the lineup. Even though Pedey has more SBs than CC . Not for long.
  11. He should be batting 2nd. You want to take full advantage of speed at the top of the lineup. Trouble is, Tito isn't a speed or smallball guy. He loves those 14-1 games. Still, Tito isn't bad with lineups, and I think you'll see CC move up to 2nd soon. Then Tito will have to figure out where to bat Pedey. Problems, problems.
  12. Tito is waiting for somebody to wake him up. He now has a robot to change pitchers every inning for him.
  13. Ev-ry thing's comin' up roses... 3 cheers for Salty and CC. Tito is at his best when all he has to do is sit in the dugout and chew on pumpkin seeds. Still managed to waste 3 pitchers today.
  14. Crawford swung at a bad pitch for DP. Tito managed to lose this game Buchholz should have won. It won't say that in the newspapers.
  15. Papi swings at first pitch--one run game. This is a free swinging HR team. Get on base? That's for quiche eaters. Tito cannot manage close games.
  16. what? Tito overmanaging again? Pulling Buchholz? Managers can make starters very unhappy in these situations. Tito loses a lot of games like this overusing the bullpen. And gets hardly any credit for it.
  17. Pedey hurt something slipping on that bag. Baseball can be dangerous when wet.
  18. here comes the lefty--just like clockwork.
  19. That was strike 3, ump, but Buchholz got him swinging anyways. If their top 3 starters continue to pitch well, the Red Sox will be in first place before long.
  20. They gave Cabrera a hit on that grounder Lowrie tried unwisely to bare hand --should have been an error.
  21. Salty is getting better. more confidence.
