    The Yankees still have Millwood in the wings. They'll need somebody by mid-season, and are probably scouring the poor teams right now for a salary dump. The Red Sox are stuck on square 1 unless they can unload Lackey or Dice-K. They should be able to deal Dice-K back to Japan--where he probably wants to be.

    Tito beats Bucky Show 3 pitchers to 6. This team has only begun to fight.

    How many pitchers will Tito go through tonite? 3 and counting. Time to trade DiceK. This guy makes Wakefield look consistent.

    The team has sucked in hitting generally, so far. That's what the stat shows. What your stat doesn't show is generally all of their LHd hitters don't hit as well against LHd pitchers, especially power numbers. That includes AdGon prior to last season. It's a no brainer for a manager to throw any lefty at them--especially in Fenway. And especially since they don't have much in RHd hitting beyond Youks and Pedroia--and maybe Lowrie. That's a glaring imbalance. Epstein is well aware of this, and don't be surprised if some changes are made. Restoring some balance will also make your left handed hitters more effective (by seeing more RHd pitching).

    You can put this thread to bed--until the next losing streak. Theyve beaten the Yanks 5 out of 6-is it? That has saved them. Tito still has issues with CC and Salty that should resolve themselves shortly. Having to bat a player like CC 8th is a bit of a joke. A sign there is no place in the lineup for him? At least while he is struggling to hit .200. And the front office needs to give Tito another catcher, and stop coddling Wakefield--who looks like the odd man out more than ever.

    Too bad. nice fit in Boston. Posada is one of those classy Yankees. Deserves better. A guy like him can take a day off if he wants anytime. Girardi knows that. No sense in making a big media deal out of this.

    Too bad Theo didn't stop with AdGon. He went and got CC. Maybe he figured that Ellsbury/Boras would be too pricey. Can't see both those guys staying in Boston--not with Kalish in the wings. They need a another big RHd bat. The sky's the limit for AdGon. He's getting comfortable lately.

    Cmon. Tito is a people skills guy. His main forte is the players and the media like him. So does the front office. He's a good company survivor. The media never says anything bad about him. Kinda like Doc Rivers. Same profile. Doc just got a 5 year extension-- after running his old starters ragged and not developing a bench. Everybody likes Doc. Neither guy is a great game coach.

    Pedroia has range, hands and quickness at 2b. The best I've seen at that position in half a century.

    Tito never guesses the right pitcher to put into a game. It's uncanny his lack of judgement. The other night , he put Aceves in in the 8th leading instead of Oki. Oki pitches 2 innings later and looks good, but he came in at the wrong time. Tito made two bad pitching decisions in that game; one was not having Beckett pitch or start the eighth--at 103 pitches and a shutout. Mistake one. The other was not replacing him with Oki. Mistake two. Yet they won the game. So Tito smells like a rose. But they had to use two extra relievers to do it, and come back from a tie.

    They won't trade Iglesias. They might trade Lowrie, since he's still cheap and one of the cheap teams like the Marlins might like him. They should think about trading Youkilis, since his salary is moderate, he's probably out of position at this point in his career at 3B , and he would bring more. But that makes their lineup imbalance worse--as does trading Lowrie. What would work best is if they traded Crawford for Werth. Or maybe have the team play their home games in Yankee stadium. Can't understand what Epstein was thinking when he dropped two RHd power hitters and replaced then with two LHd hitters.

    Epstein has gotten himself into a real pickle upsetting the balance of this club by dropping VMart and Beltre, and replacing them with AdGon and Crawford. Tito is no rocket scientist, and still hasn't figured out how to get some chemistry with this team. Batting Crawford 8th is a clue to his dilemma. The other thing Theo did was fall in love with Salty--before Salty had proven anything to anybody. He passed on opportunities to fortify the catcher position, and now it will be much harder. He did not distribute his eggs properly in his catching basket. That's aside from the bad signings of Lackey (he has never pitched well in Fenway--they should have known) and Dice-K (the guy pitches like he wants to be in Japan--with the money, too). I think, also, he should ask himself why he has to replace most of his bullpen every year. Maybe overuse? Why half the pitching staff has to be used in every game--win or lose-- is beyond me. To do that, you need 15 pitchers. It's interesting that none of the media fingers have been pointed at Theo or Tito--yet.

    He's beginning to heat up. It was clear he was their best player right away, in that season opener in Texas.

    Yeah. 4 blown saves in a row. And there's the cooked Timlin brought in to lose that critical playoff game to TB. Instead of one of the starters. Loyalty over winning for Tito. Always. Remember when D. Johnson brought in the rookie Burton to pitch to Morgan in the deciding 7th world series game in '75? With all of his starters watching from the bullpen? Now that's sheer stupidity. He got fired.

    What they need is a guy who isn't so popular with the players, and is more proactive on the field. A manager who stresses fundamentals, and isn't so laid back. Tito is a fat, contented cow--a millionaire, now--like most of the team.

    Theo doesn't get enough credit in the media for all those bad decisions. It isn't all Tito--by a longshot.

    I 'd be shocked if Tito was fired. I don't think this organization is capable of firing a manager who has been around for so long. Sure they fired Grady Little, but Grady made an ass out of himself leaving Pedro in there for slaughter, and something had to be done. The question is WHY this team is underachieving. Is it Tito? the chemistry? complacency? I don't know if anyone really knows. I do think Theo has to share some of the grief. That commentator on TV the other night (the ex-pitcher) may have said it right: he said the Red Sox have a lot of very good players, but they are not yet a good team. That points to the management, as well as the players. When Ellsbury leads off the 8th in a tie game, and is swinging at the first pitch, you know there's a problem in Houston--er, Boston.
