  1. His problem is he has lost a ton off his fastball since his Angels days--and he is getting hit. He needs to go to the Yankees, and get an injection of the serum they give to retread pitchers.
  2. Cameron and Lackey have been the biggest disappointments. It looks like Cameron arrived in ST hurt 2 years ago, and has never regained his form. Of course, it's hard for a player to play to his career stats playing part-time. But he is way overpaid for what he has done in Boston. Another guy who keeps Theo awake nights is Lackey. This guy is nowhere near the #1 or 2 starter they paid for. He has lost a ton off his fastball since his Angels days. $15 million per for how many years? Yikes. Who said Salty? Cripes, they got the kid for nothing. He was a bargain even in April when he wasn't hitting. You have to look at what the guy is costing. In those terms, you have to add Crawford to the list. To date, he is nowhere near a $20 million player. Not even close. But it's still early.
  3. That's why they are seeing every lefty in the majors this year.
  4. Isn't he from San Diego? Then he knows all about Ted Williams.
  5. A bit of a conflict, eh? That never bothers the Yankees. It's about winning, period.
  6. You could have said the same about the Giants last year.
  7. Good luck to that tall lefty tonite. throw strikes, kid.
  8. watch the yankees try to get him.
  9. way to go, Salty! Saw the kid at Pawtucket last year and liked him.
  10. Randy Johnson with no control. Randy also had no control when he was a rookie.
  11. Verlander and Beckett look like the best right now. Just heard Teixeira and Granderson are close to Maris-Mantle and Ruth-Gehrig in HRs after 66 games. They must be eating the same tacos as Colon.
  12. You gotta love Beckett. He is actually earning his salary this year. Great location. Keeping the ball down. One hit shutout. Stay healthy, kid. CY is in sight.
  13. Just saw the Yankee catcher block the plate so the Ranger runner couldn't get near it trying to score. The catcher was lucky the runner wasn't Pete Rose. The runner should have knocked him into the dugout. You shouldn't be able to block the plate like that without getting hit. You can bet that runner will hear about it in the dugout.
  14. With the kind of control he has shown in Pawtucket, Andrew Miller could be another Randy Johnson. But he has to show that location in the Show.
  15. how many pitches is that? time for the pigpen, Tito.
  16. I see St Louis and Milwaukee both lost games tonite taking their starters (Garcia, Gallardo)out with a lead after 6 and 7 innings and 107, 109 pitches. The bullpen got bombed in both cases. How many games do managers lose these days taking out starters cruising with a lead and replacing them with inferior pitchers? If I'm a starter, I'm pissed in that situation where I didn't get a win. Any starter should be able to throw 120 strong pitches in a game. Taking a guy out earlier is horsecrap.
  17. 14-1, 14-1, then they get shutout. Is that surprising? Besides, Wake needs 14 runs, not Lester or Beckett. ps. 2-0 game is winnable. Aceves, not Hottietite. But that's Tito. Never brings in the right guy.
  18. Lord, please let us have a Red Sox -Phillies World Series.
  19. Tito's preferred order is Ells-CC 1-2. That's what he had to start the season, and that's probably where he will go eventually. But they are winning right now with the current order, so there's not much incentive to change.
  20. Pedroia of the current Red Sox will make the HOF with a half dozen more Pedroia seasons. He is recognized as a great ballplayer and 2nd baseman--and the Red Sox team leader (why isn't he team captain or co-captain? a FO failure which may tell you something about the Red Sox). The other sure guy is Pedro--the planet's best pitcher when he was in Boston. The other guy who should be in the HOF is Luis Tiant. No question. Something is remiss there. I could say Dom Dimaggio, too, but I suppose that's arguable. When Dom was eligible, Baseball was pre-occupied with putting a lot of the old Negro League guys into the HOF. Some justified, certainly. But others questionable. Not enough attention was paid to deserving Major Leaguers like Tiant and Dom. Another overlooked great LHd pitcher was Mel Parnell. He was as good as the Yankee LHd pitchers in the HOF--and he didn't have Yankee stadium to pitch in.
  21. Cuban finally wins one after spending a jillion dollars down there. The Celtics are dead. Ainge killed them trading Perkins. And now they have Doc for another 5 years--a guy who can't develop a bench. What is happening in sports is unexpected teams are winning championships. At least unexpected by the media. Stay away from those big star, big money media teams. Last year it was the no name Giants winning in baseball. A team team. Who will win this year? Could be the Guardians--another no name team. Maybe the Red Sox who are now playing the way everyone predicted. The Red Sox are not a no name team--but despite that, they still have a good chance to win it all.
  22. The Yankees are in trouble with their pitching. Hughes' absence has hurt. If he can't come back strong, they will be begging for starting pitching soon.
  23. What happened to that guy? Different ballplayer with all that money. CC take heed.
