  1. Hey, it's about beating the Yankees. it's ALWAYS about beating the Yankees.
  2. Just read that the NFL is going to have HGH testing. HGH is the stuff the pituitary gland secretes to make you young and strong. But the amount secreted decreases with age, so you look and feel older. Bonds apparently took it, and it sure did help him. Makes athletes feel young again. I take something called genf20plus, which is a bunch of amino acids (non steroid), that is supposed to tell the pituitary gland to secrete more HGH. I've been using it for 6 months, and I think it works. It's knocked a few years off my age. I'm serious. It builds up your upper body, darkens your hair, and makes your nails grow faster. Also reduces facial wrinkles. I doubt this stuff is illegal in the NFL, and wonder if the players know about it. It does take time to work. Weeks to months. Wonder what it does for athletes.
  3. has to have lost a step or two. can't believe it's because of his mouth.
  4. Recommended by the media. They do not like Bedard. Hope that isn't a problem for him here.
  5. Hey, Bedard looks good 1st 3 innings. Scratch, seeing eye hits got the 3 runs. Not something Tito worries about. Masterson looks masterly. My god, they traded this guy for a rental. He kills RHd hitters. This is where their LHd lineup really helps. He didn't throw like this in Boston. He's just gotten better.
  6. $10 million bucks into his contract, and he looks like a dud to me--for what he is being paid, that is. Lackey looks like a dud, too, and he's even deeper into his contract. One of CCs problems is they really haven't found a good place in the lineup for him where his skills can be properly utilized. He may be a bit lost in the 6-hole. Remember, he's coming from a team where he was the big fish. I wish him the best, and hope he hits .400 in September when it will count. As for going to the Yankees, that might not be a bad idea for him. There are a lot of overachievers playing in NY right now, and maybe some of it might rub off.
  7. Well, unfathomable to you, anyways. If you don't know how to respond, then don't respond.
  8. Hey, do you work for the Globe? The Globe has been on Bedard's case since the trade, and he hasn't even made one start. Bedard is known to have a problem with the media, so that's understandable. But from posters?:thumbdown I hope the guy shuts down Cleveland tonite. Don't you?
  9. The stock market just dropped 5% today, and now I have to hear more negative crap. Get a life. Bedard will win more games than Lackey the rest of the year. That's not saying much.
  10. Crawford has been looking like a bad sign for Theo. He's stuck in the 6-hole because the only other spots for him are 1-2 and those are currently sewed up by Ells and Pedey. In addition, he imbalances the lineup, so they attract LHP like bees to honey. Not to mention the king's ransom he's being paid. If they wind up extending Ellsbury, at some point, I expect Crawford will become expendable in some sort of deal. Maybe one expensive disappointment for another. You know these guys are grossly overpaid when they play their best ball BEFORE the big contract--not after. I've said before I thought the sports bubble will burst at some point, given the tough economic times we are in. Not yet, but you never know with the way things are going right now.
  11. Welcome to the OOFAPC: the obscenely overpaid free agent pitchers club: Burnett, Lackey, Zito, ... Any other worthy members out there?
  12. Anytime Wake holds a team to 3 runs in 6 innings, that's as good as you're gonna get from him--and it's good enough. Too bad he didn't get his 200th win. At least we would be past that. Tito keeps stretching this guy with his cockamamy pitch counts. Cripes, the guy is older than Tito.
  13. I think Furcal was a good pickup by the Cardinals--he should be good the rest of the season after injuries. But he is a 1-2 hitter, and a basestealer. The Red Sox have the 1-2 part of the lineup sewn up with Ells and Pedey. Even Crawford will probably stay in the 6-hole the rest of the season. Crawford has had a few walkoffs, but he looks like he wasn't worth the climb on this team--especially with Ellsbury breaking out.
  14. Dubront is the pitching version of Lowrie. Always hurt.
  15. My theory is these guys don't condition more when they get older. Hell, they're all multi-millionaires. What do they care--until the next contract.
  16. Lackey's problem is he doesn't throw hard anymore, and it makes his curve less effective. The Sox didn't scout him close enough before they signed him, or they would have picked it up. Kinda like what happened to Pedro. He just gets hit more frequently.
  17. Aviles replace Scutey tonite. maybe for good.
  18. true. but you're not paying the salaries.
  19. Salty is close to breaking out. The kid has played his way up the ladder. Great story. He looks in great shape, and has worked hard. If it weren't for Lackey, Theo would be up for a Nobel Prize.
  20. Who the hell is this guy "R. Williams"? Is he dating Henry's secretary?
  21. The Red Sox are throwing guys out there with humungus Whips: R.Williams 2.05, Lackey 1.55, Miller 1.88. These guys are getting creamed. How can you justify throwing crap out on the mound with a $100 million dollar lineup?
