    Morales threw 86 pitches last night. He was strong and could have gone another inning. Oswalt threw 110 pitches in his first start of the year in Texas yesterday. I don't think that would have been possible in Boston. They would have pussied him with 80 pitches. The Sox have an underachieving bunch of starters who aren't consistent. Maybe they just don't throw enough pitches. I read they are carrying 13 pitchers right now. Too much bullpen.

    What does 'stretching out' mean? That's a new bs term these days they did without for 100 years. Nowadays pitchers are fed quiche for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The result is they DL every 6 weeks out of habit. A guys goin' good you stick with him. They don't get enough innings out of their starters.

    Meredith was mishandled by Tito. He brought him in with the bases loaded in the 9th inning of a tie game--for his first major league appearance just up from AA. One of Tito's "hunches" that didn't pan out.

    The buzz now is he is going to the WSox for Matt Thornton. Decent BP lefthander who is 35 and up for contract in '14. I think Youks was doomed when AdGon was signed. I doubt he was physically able to play 3B--maybe due to his injury the previous year, maybe just due to age and conditioning. The adjustment from 3B to 1B is a piece of cake compared to 1B to 3B. We'll see how long Miggy lasts there.

    The latest in the Bard soap opera is he had a sudden realization he belonged in the bullpen. That was coincident with talking to Cherington and Valentine about moving back to the bullpen--which is where he belonged in the first place--given his history. I get the impression that there are many good posters in newsgroups that have shown better judgement than Cherington so far this season.

    Aviles loves to try to pull outside pitches. That's why his OBP is south of .300.

    I don't know why they were 2-3 in the batting order tonite. Didn't they score 15 runs with Nava-Kalish 1-2?

    They'll never get this kid out of the lineup. Him and Middlebrooks. Ellsbury is sure to get traded.

    There is nothing worse than a reliever who turns a close game into a less close game.

    They are stuck with him, unless you can get a buyer for $20 mil per year for a few+ years.

    The Sox desperately need another ace starter. My guess is Lester is out of shape. And his curveball is hanging out there so bad even Clemens could hit it.

    Why isn't the lineup Nava-Kalish 1-2 again against a RHP? Instead we have bad thumb Pedey batting 2nd and lost stroke AdGon batting 3rd. Jurrgens sucks. They should be hitting this guy.

    It says a lot about loading your lineup with high OBP guys. They've gotten away from that.

    You stick with a lineup that's winning. I'd like to AdGon batting 6th. It's the money that's batting him 3rd or 4th right now. You hurt the team keeping non-productive hitters in the middle of the lineup.

    Their starting pitching still sucks. There are too many bad first innings. These guys aren't ready to pitch. They need another ace starter in the mix.

    Whoever said Ells for Felix said it right. Ells is getting more expendable by the day.

    Can't get over how well the Pawtucket kids are doing. They should bring the whole team up.
