  1. Way to go SCM. Your post reveals what most Sox fans feel. What is going on? Well, I have my opinion. I've stated it before. The Sox corporate objective is not winning the W.S., Wild card, or er even 95 games. It all comes down to R.O.I.. Return On Investment. Make money. Create and reinforce the perception that the team is championship driven and fill the seats. Sell advertising. Sell anything Red Sox branded. Greed is good. Welcome to Friendly Fenway. America's most beloved ballpark.
  2. How can anyone with the name "Boof" be taken seriously? Seriously? Let's go Sox!
  3. It's a neat idea, I guess. But are there any "good seats" to view hockey?
  4. I think Keeper's comment was misplaced and ill advised. If he had a problem with another member, or as in this case two members, he could have Pmed them to discuss it. In stead he took the 7th grade route and made a personal attack in front of the whole class. Nice.
  5. So they would deal Alex Gonzalez. Lol.
  6. That trade would seem lopsided to me. The Yankees would be getting the short end (on paper, anyway).
  7. See. Jacko can be objective. Seriously, based on what we have been reading, what else would make any sense? Has anyone here actually seen him play?
  8. I just read a "Rumor" on another board that the Cards are in hot pursuit of Brad Penny! Oh joy. There is justice in the world. Go Redbirds!:D:D:D:D:thumbsup:
  9. Rumors are rumors. I saw a rumor today that the Braves were working a deal for A. Gonalez. Of course, there is nothing to substantiate it at the moment.
  10. Can you provide a link?;)
  11. I think we all saw this coming. I just did not realize that it was his decision to make. I don't believe that he won't be traded, however. Although I hope not.
  12. He is hilarious. I remember his first Boston interview from Fort Myers on WEEI. He was driving a rental car and talking on a cell phone when someone rear ended him. "I guess I should have gotten the optional insurance".
  13. I think he f***ed up here. What is Petitte really worth? And to whom? Does he really think he'll get more money and a longer contract?
  14. I don't know what happened to Wells. He was a perennial Sox killer with his bat and defense. What was his injury? Is that the cause for his decline? In any case, the Jays gave him a really dumb contract.
  15. No. He was not being an ass as I recall. It was a very brief encounter. He had just come back from Rome or had just beat Liston. I don't know which. The light turned green and off he went.
  16. Today, while discussing public transportation with a friend, I was reminded of my first encounter with a big name athlete. I was about 8 or 9 years old in the early sixties. My Mom had never learned to drive so we always took the bus anywhere that we needed to go. We lived in Louisville, Kentucky at the time. Mom and I were sitting at a bus stop waiting for a bus. The bus stop was at an intersection. A pink Cadillac convertible pulled up and stopped at the red light in front of us. A young black man driving the vehicle looked over at us. I made eye contact with him. He said "You know who I am?". I responded "you're the champ". It was Cassius Clay.
  17. I agree with W.B. If he can achieve his career averages, plays D as well as he did in Toronto, and stays healthy, I won't bitch. Scutaro was not my pick for the Sox SS in 2010. But I have accepted the deal and am looking forward to seeing him contribute.
