  1. The game is blacked out here. f***.
  2. This post was unnecessary.
  3. I sure wish I could answer that for you. Just keep an eye on Boston.com and you'll know at some point. MLB station? I'll assume you mean the MLB station that I now get on Comcast. I hope I see the Sox. The past two days I had to watch the Yankees. I'm so starved for baseball, I've watched it! It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the obnoxious YES announcers. Christ, are they bad. Give me anyone other than those pukes. Even Fox!
  4. Francisco Cervelli was beaned today and sustained his second concussion in four months. This is gruesome. I think most people have very little understanding about the severity of concussions. I'm hoping he can recover and continue to pursue his career with no lasting problems. Further, I'm hoping Jacko has the time to explain to us what a concussion is and what impact it can have going forward.
  5. The Kid appears to have the stuff. He gets lost in the shuffle, so to speak. I think he could be another Masterson type. We'll see.
  6. Lol! I usually kill threads. This time I've incited a riot! It's easy to see that Youk is the better all around player. Especially with all the new metrics to support the opinion. However, Youk is a very good defensive 1st baseman. Scott was spectacular. Most people who saw him play would acknowledge that. It's just not debatable. And while Scotts OBP and OPS probably would not measure up to Youk's, he was a valuable part of the Sox offense and a "feared' hitter in his day. Again, having not seen him play, it would be difficult to understand this. I guess.
  7. What happened to him?
  8. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MensHealth/baseball-players-overweight-study-suggests/story?id=10001820 Somehow I don't feel better!
  9. It's interesting to me that most of the members have mentioned only players from the last 15-20 years. No Doubt Pedro was the best pitcher I ever saw play for the Sox. It's just a shame more people here never saw Yaz play. Add up all the big plays and clutch hits made by Mo Vaughn, Manny, and Papi, and you just begin to approach what Yaz accomplished during his career.
  10. Big Ben is in trouble in Georgia. Some skank is accusing him of sexual assault. No charges filed as yet. Sounds fishy to me.
  11. The Pat's extended Wilfolk today. 5/40 with $18.mil signing bonus. A bargain, I believe. Banta Cain was resigned as well. 3 years that could add up to $19.mil if incentives are met. Good move.
  12. George Scott. Not even close. I've never seen anyone play 1st base better since.
  13. Yaz - The absolute best defensive left fielder I ever saw. And a tremendous hitter in his prime. He was also the second best defensive 1st baseman I ever saw.
  14. Apparently I haven't seen enough of Hanley. Every time I've seen him play short he has looked really average. He looked like a bulky Lugo. No doubt that he is an "Elite' bat.
  15. I tried to tune in to WEEI on the net last night but instead of the game they were airing some ESPN baseball tonight s***. That sucked.
  16. Sox beat the twins 2-1 tonight. Nothing big happened.
  17. Whatever. It will be interesting to watch his development.
  18. I'm hoping Boof makes a great comeback. He did have two hard hit balls. We'll see. Either way, great name.
  19. Celts are blowing out Charlotte. What is up with those Bobcat unis? They are just plain fugly. I almost did not recognize that they were the Charlotte Bobcats. Why do teams change uni designs so often? I know the common reasons . I just don't get it. Anyone with a marketing degree would wonder too, I believe. Keep a uniform for a while and establish a product identity. Even if your team sucks. The NBA is weak in so many areas. Strange.
  20. Let's not get too excited over Jose's double facing a college pitcher. Play with stats and project anything you want if if makes you feel good. The kid needs seasoning. When he hits AA and faces tough pitches every at bat, then everyone can have a better idea what the kid may be able to do. I'll say this, he does not seem timid.
  21. Not a lot is happening. 1-0 after two. Kalish made a nice snag going to his left. B.C. turned a very nice 4-6-3 dp. That was cool.
  22. 1-0 Sox after one. It must be really exciting for the B.C. kids. So much so that two outfielders bobbled routine plays. Bowden starts the second.
  23. I saw an inning earlier where Cervelli was on first. He broke for second and was thrown out. Never the less, he has some wheels. I didn't know that.
  24. What are you waiting for? This twit is needed like a case of poison ivy. Lol. Already banned.
