  1. I have no problem. I merely pointed out that everything had been said about the guy already. Much like all the rehashing of Drew's value, etc. . I stated MY OPINION, as is my privilege. You just have to try to make my simple comment into something it's not. Which makes my comment all the more salient. Almost all the time there is a "discussion" involving you, things escalate to an ugly fight.
  2. The subject of Vasquez has been covered on Talksox extensively. Ultimately, the proof will be found in the pudding. The Yankees added a quality 4th starter that will help them. That is making a difference. How much of a difference remains to be scene.
  3. Are you still in Florida?
  4. Bonser is said to have been complaining of a sore groin after the game.
  5. I had a brain fart. Now I understand! Don't go through all that trouble unless you feel it's necessary.
  6. It's a slow night on TV. Thankfully, I have this thread to entertain me.
  7. No it's not. However, your post may be a lot to comprehend for people that are challenged by simple tasks such as tying one's shoes.
  8. Go Big Red! I was about to post to ask how people see the Cornell - Kentucky match-up. People tend to disregard Ivy League teams. That's too bad. An argument could be made that Princeton and Harvard should have been in the tourney too.
  9. Go Big Red! Up 12 over Wisconsin early in the second half.
  10. Bye bye Kansas. Lol.
  11. I agree. I see that Pats going for an edge player so some pressure can be put on the QB. But I would not be surprised if they traded down or out of the 1st round. They always look for "Value". Still, there will be someone worth drafting at 22. We'll see.
  12. Check Boston.com today. I think it was Breer who did an article on the top TE that the Pats may draft. I don't recall his name. I think he played at Oklahoma and missed this past year with an injury. But he supposed to a stud. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2010/03/gresham_hasnt_h.html There you go.
  13. He got all of that one. 3-0 Sox in the bottom of the 7th. Wake looked very good.
  14. Done Deal. Red Sox sign Embree to minor-league deal Permalink|Comments (2) Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff March 20, 2010 08:11 AM The Red Sox, unhappy with their bullpen options, today signed 40-year-old lefty Alan Embree to a minor-league deal that included an invitation to spring training. With veteran Brian Shouse not particularly impressive and prospect Dustin Richardson getting hurt then quickly optioned out, the Red Sox were seeking a lefthander who could compliment Hideki Okajima in the bullpen. Embree, 40, spent 2009 with the Colorado Rockies, going 2-2 with a 5.84 ERA in 36 relief appearances. His season was cut short when a batted ball fractured his right tibia on July 10. The 16-year Major League veteran owns a 39-45 record with 25 saves and a 4.59 ERA in 882 career games/four starts with the Guardians (1992, 1995-96), Braves (1997-98), Diamondbacks (1998), Giants (1999-2001), White Sox (2001), Padres (2002, 2006), Red Sox (2002-05), Yankees (2005), Athletics (2007-08) and Rockies (2009). He ranks ninth all-time among Major League left-handers and second among active southpaws with 878 career relief outings. He returns for a second stint in the Red Sox organization after going 8-9 with four saves and a 4.69 ERA in 211 relief appearances with the club from 2002-05. He allowed earned runs in just one of his 19 postseason games with Boston, going 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA (2 ER/14.0 IP). Embree induced a ground ball by Ruben Sierra for the final out of Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS in Yankee Stadium.
  15. I don't mean to brown nose here but I think it's very nice if you to take the time to post the cumulative SP stats on Talksox. While SP is what it is, it helps to see who's tanking it and who is doing OK. Especially when there is limited TV coverage. Ortiz will be just fine, in my opinion. As Dipre has pointed out, Papi was able to resume his off season work-out regiment. He will probably start the regular season slowly, as he has in seasons past, but I see no reason to expect the worst. When the warm weather hits Boston, I think he'll be productive.
  16. Sorry SOTK. Cornell won. Kind of cool. A team of kids that not only can spell their names but scored 2100 or above on their SATs. Hahahahahahaha! Get to work Al Skinner.
  17. As a father of an 18 year old boy, I can imagine what Ryan's parents are going through. This is good news. He has survived and is able to move on to therapy. This is the best news so far in spring training. I hope to see him throwing out a first pitch at Fenway this season. Woooooo! That would be nice!
  18. Umm. Just like to thank Riversidesluggers for the updates. Really. The Boston media does not do this. Pretty cool. Thanks.
  19. Wut?
  20. I have no idea who you are. But I was kidding. BTW, The Guardians got a good young pitcher in return IIRC. And a s*** load of chocolate chip cookies!
  21. Very true. Which prompted my response. If you agree with someone than there is no rational reason to continue arguing with them. "Listening is fundamental". Comprehension, appears to be optional.
