  1. I've never heard any any talk of Nomar/steroids other than on Talksox. What have I missed? Where are the pronounced forehead and split teeth? He was slight of build in Pawtucket. Ten years later he's ripped. So? What evidence exists that he juiced? I want to know. I'm not being a homer wise ass here. I've never heard any talk of it. Why can't an athlete build his body over time? Edit: I recognize that most players may have juiced in his era.
  2. Whatever. There's no discounting the fact that he was an offensive force.
  3. Well I've always liked Green, so I'm a little biased. He's very good at DE and can play in the middle too in small doses. He's mostly a back-up player but has been able to start successfully as an injury replacement for Seymour and such. He's had a few injuries that hobbled him. Evryone says he's a very good locker room guy and he's been very involved in the community as well. In fact, no one has anything bad to say about the guy. He's not Ty Warren or Seymour, but he's smart and plays hard.
  4. Bodden signed a four year deal with the Pats today.
  5. Sox won 9-0. Kalish and Reddick continue to rake. Lars Anderson was 0-4 today which makes him 1-18 in spring training. It may be "Just spring training", but this can't be good.
  6. "Injuries - Yeast Infections".
  7. I can't stand woman's basketball. I find it as interesting as Curling.
  8. Jarvis Green passed a physical and agreed to a 4 year deal with the Broncos today.
  9. The Sox lead the Marlins 5-0 after six. Wake looked good again.
  10. Maybe so. However, the objective for those involved is to make money. If that happens, then there is some meaning.
  11. Oh, that kind of bowl.
  12. The Sox beat the Cards 7-6. Nice.
  13. Oh, OK. You stated that Kelly did not throw a curveball based on viewing a video. His manager and battery mate say otherwise and you spin it into some sarcastic gobbledy gook above. My point is that it is very unlikely you, nor any other lay person can properly identify a pitch from most TV camera perspectives. This is supported by what Jerry Remy wrote in his book and by what other former MLB players have said (Eckersly, Merloni, etc.). "There's the cutter". "There's the slider". "There's the two seamer". When announcers say these things I just laugh. Remy says that it is almost impossible for anyone to identify a pitch from the booth even for "experts" such as himself. I believe him.
  14. That's interesting given that Francona said that Kelly used "all his pitches " and that Wagner had Kelly throw the curve on a 3-2 count. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2010/03/08/excitement_slightly_raised_by_red_sox_mound_pair/ http://bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view.bg?articleid=1238076&srvc=sports&position=3
  15. So a player sustains a concussion and it's determined that his condition does not warrant a visit to a hospital. I find that strange. Who made that decision? The guy who sharpens the skates?
  16. Hahhahahaha! I've been waiting for someone to make this post! I saw Nomar play in Pawtucket and was impressed by his skills and his bony frame. He came to Boston and lit it up. It's funny, I recently asked the board what constitutes an "Elite Shortstop". No one mentioned Nomar. As far as I'm concerned, he had only one flaw in his game. An erratic arm. Other than that, he was the best shortstop in Boston since Luis Apericio (sp).
  17. Gasbag. That about sums it up. It was painful.
  18. Well the NIT was not always viewed with such disdain. Back when I played ('70s), the NIT was quite prestigious. It was a big deal to play in a post season tourney at Madison Square Garden. I remember Julius Erving leading his U. Mass team to the NIT. That was a big deal around here. Marketing has changed all that. I wonder how the players and coaching staff feel about playing in the NIT. They get to do their thing past the regular season. Maybe they see things differently?
