As I said earlier, he just does not understand physics.
His misplays have much more to do with that than his inexperience as an outfielder. He has NO IDEA where a ball WILL BOUNCE to. NONE.
My 12 year old daughter knows how to follow a carom better than Hanley and that is no exaggeration.
Someone in the dugout should explain Newtons' 3 laws.
Then Louvello is a liar, I guess. He said that when a catcher continues to look into the dougout it is for direction on how to handle the running game ONLY.
But again, Louvello is either a liar or I am totally going Alzheimers.
I worked in Natick for 6 years. Several of my coworkers went to school with both of the Flutie boys.
Darren was okay but Doug was a creep. The Father was a raging alchy.
Even if the player values inflate at absurd and in a non-linear fashion?
That is the MAIN POINT of this discussion. That and the fact that you just don't like the deal.
I think that we are all excited to see him up with the big club.
However, the kid is not ready after only a total of 36 games in AAA. I heard Terry Louvello talk about him this morning.
Swilhart is a good catch and throw guy but needs development in all other areas of catching. That is what his coach said. Calling a game is the biggest hole for him.
It is too bad about Hannigan. He was having a very good start by doing everything well.
Oh well.
GO SWILHART!!!!!!1!!!!1
The Sox announcers just made note of the booing each time he stepped up to the plate. The booing was of normal volume and there was no overt hatred from what I saw.
I was mostly listening to the TV so I did not see his velo.
I think that the lefty match-up thing was over hyped.
It was just one game. Over many games he probably would get noticeably shelled but who knows?
I did not listen to the Yankee broadcast so I don't know if it is an accurate description. However I do trust you to be accurate with this stuff so I assume the worst.
I'll say that the new A-Roid love is absolutely sickening and hypocritical. I do understand Jacko or anyone else that is loyal to their team to want even the resident douche bag to hit HRs. That's cool. But overt displays of affection and admiration for someone who has thumbed his nose to the game and all it's fans is just detestable. I called it very early in the off season. The cretin Yankee fans are doing their thing falling in line.
I now have pre-puke in my mouth.
Both starting pitchers pitched well enough to lose. As you said in your saber thread, the randomness of the universe stepped in and that was that.
That and failed pen work.
