  1. This is a game thread. Not the betting thread.
  2. Then he's off the hook with me!
  3. When was Napoli implicated as a juicer? I must have missed something.
  4. Horseface Lackey came up big for the Cards today. 7 2/3, 10K, ?H, 1ER. He sure would look good at the front of the Sox rotation about now. He was a Number 1 with the Angels. Their Ace. He may not be considered anything more than a #2 now. But he would be our best pitcher. It was really f***ing dumb to trade him. They blew up the entire staff when they did not have to ( regardless what the friend of a guy who Fred knows from another board says ). He only "hinted" at retiring as a ploy in the hope the Sox would sign a new deal with him.
  5. Can't take anything away from those guys. But Baltimore had 4 20 game winners. Have we seen that since? I still think Gibson and Blue are the two best non-Sox pitchers I have seen.
  6. They are prospects in AAA for a reason. They need to continue to develop into MLB pitchers. Owens and now Johnson have had some hiccups. Big deal. The three pitching prospects in Pawtucket all have better upside than the crap we had there last year in Webster and DeLarosa. I'm coll with Barnes in the pen. Maybe he can make some spot starts and go 4-5 innings if needed.
  7. The topic bores me. I am one who hates all big $$$$ contracts. Yet I can see why the Sox made this deal. It makes sense for all parties. Maybe one has to be a scientist to realize this is not rocket science.
  8. I was referring to who would be the new pitching coach. Cherrington did build this team so if the Sox fail it is all on him. But the FO is not so quick to oust one of their own. That would directly reflect on their decision to hire the GM in the first place. I don't see how getting rid of Nieves will help unless he was not well liked among the pitchers. The problem is that the entire team is under performing. Farrell will be the next big sacrifice, not Cherrington.
  9. Red Sox Fire Pitching Coach Juan Nieves Okay. What next?
  10. My recollection was that McNally and Palmer were co-number ones. That rotation was the best that I ever saw.
  11. Ah yes. Joe LaHoud. The pride of Danbury, Ct.. I remember watching him when he came up. His batting stance was identical to Yaz's. Other than that, there was very little similarity.
  12. I call ********. No way any of this is true!!!! Apologize to iOrtiz! He said that there were no #2 or #3 making $20. mil.!!!!!
  13. Screw projections for just long enough to answer the question. It's not hard to do.
  14. The Sox have their own way of establishing value. They ascribed a value to Lester and would not go beyond it. Good for them. Who needs big ticket aging non-productive players?
  15. You would have loved watching him pitch!!! Check out Juan Marichal too. (SP)
  16. Or he gets shelled. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!1!
  17. This is what I was asking "YOU".. Notice that he chose not to answer
  18. This offense currently is mediocre.
  19. I have never gotten to stage 4. Of course I did not just jump on the bandwagon in the Pedro era either. I will always want to see my team succeed. I hope for it every day. At this point I have seen most everything to see in MLB baseball. I am hardly ever surprised ( except for crazy s*** like Quintero throwing a ball into a batter's kidney at blank range ) . I can see how the Sox COULD right the ship. I have just seen enough of this act over the years to feel strongly that this team is what I thought it would be. A near .500 team that finishes 3rd or 4th.
  20. I'm not jumping. I do think that the Sox may have some dead bats going forward. Maybe not sub-Mendoza but bats that will deliver less than expected. I can see the Sox starting ERA being over 4.25 or 4.5. They suck or at best only average when they don't suck. This team is consistently out-pitched.
