  1. Ortiz can run. He just chooses to conserve energy. And to answer Kimmi's question in the closed thread from two days ago, yes. Although I have not noticed that Hannigan is slow.
  2. Another good throw!!!!! Thanks Nap. I have enjoyed watching you play 1st base.
  3. It's sickening! Not like the Rays are the Jays or anything!
  4. There is an example of a throw that neither Fatboy or Hanley would have stopped. This team will miss Napoli.
  5. Kind of early to give up on any aspect of his game. He is not exactly Boog Powell, I get it. Still, with his speed and apparent skills at the plate he could become another Manny Sanguillian. Or just a catcher that can hit.
  6. Oh. I'm down with that too.
  7. I'm hoping that both Castillo and Bradley hit the f*** out of the ball.

  9. I can see this. Unlike the formation of the rotation which had even more reasons to fail.
  10. I can see Kimmi's point. It was just another example of having a an idea that seemed good at the time. It did not work out.
  11. My point is that the comparisons are not close to valid. I have not looked at their numbers in a while but I seem to remember that Posey came into pro ball and absolutely raked in two levels in about one year and was brought up. That guy was much more of a finished product ( at least offensively ). Swihart is younger with much less experience, I believe from what I can recall. His athleticism is enticing. But he was brought up out of drastic need. Not because he was anywhere near ready to be a full time catcher. Comparing him to Posey just created hype. Hype that has yet to be fulfilled.
  12. I have a hard time accepting the idea that anyone with a lot of knowledge about the game actually made the decision to go get this pig when better options costing far less existed. Who that could be in the FO is anyone's guess. Maybe they all are just not good at evaluating talent. Maybe an ego or two got in the way. In any case the Sox made the wrong decision regardless of motivation.
  13. Have fun Mike. Pretty cool advise from Ted.
  14. There is no legitimate reason to compare Swihart with Posey. One look at their numbers and career paths tells you that.
  15. Yeah. They worked the phones but they could not get the "value" they seek. That's what happens when you don't know how to establish value very well. That and buying crap you don't need at elevated prices. This team sucks at roster building. Plain and simple. Henry should fire them all and make an offer to the Os for Douquette that they can not turn down. There is no end in sight for this suck storm no matter what shade of glasses you wear.
  16. I understand all that "conventional wisdom" and all the conservatism that goes with it. However, as desirable a hitting catcher may be, a lighter hitting catcher can be covered in a strong lineup. I think that Vasquez should be able to hit about .240 or above and I think that should be good enough when coupled with his clearly superior defensive skills. The ones that Swihard needs much move development on. I also see that Swihart has lots of potential for big time offensive numbers. We have no 1st baseman going forward. Move him now and save his body and his brain from the damage that will be done while catching. My idea is not what I would call a no brainer. It's just an idea that has a good chance of being good.
  17. Oh how I wish that would happen. If nothing else we could see more of Jenny Dell. Even if Will never hits, I'd swap these pieces. It would be a win-win. Won't have to look at Fatboy = win. Look at Jenny Dell=win. GO BEN!!!!1!!1
  18. I agree. I just have no idea what his value is. I just figured a decent bump from his SF deal but not so much to scare other teams off. I ignore WAR intentionally. So do the Sox from appearances. Dump this piece of goo. He does not fit.
  19. GordonEdes Gordon Edes Two hours before trading deadline, Red Sox efforts focused on Carrasco or Ross. JBJ could be going
  20. I guess that you guys are all over this story already but I have copied it from MLB TR anyway! Padres, Red Sox, Cubs Have Talked 3-Team Trade By Jeff Todd [July 31, 2015 at 12:18pm CDT] The Padres, Red Sox, and Cubs have discussed an unspecified three-team deal, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets. ESPN.com’s Buster Olney tweeted earlier that there was industry speculation of discussions between the clubs, noting that there were many potential fits between them. The parameters of a deal remain unreported at this time, but both Chicago (here and here) and Boston have been heavily connected to San Diego in recent days.
  21. Thanks. I hope something comes of it but I really doubt that his contract can be moved. Although I have suggested that the Sox should eat about $7 Mil/year of his deal and move on.
