    I don't know about what is possible contract wise. However, if he can be had on a minor league deal it would be good. The Sox have wasted so much money on reclamation projects with much less positive and solid performance information. Small risk here.

    For many years I have admired the Rays because they always seemed to have young exciting players coming up through their system. Now it seems that the shoe is on the other foot. Say what you want about Ben's failures. The recent crop of young players graduating to the bigs for the Sox is pretty impressive. So f*** the Devil Rays and their punk-ass pitcher. I hope Papi tees off on his scrawny crooked cap ass. I hope Good ERod shows up tonight to remind Tampa of just how mediocre they are. GO SOX!!11!!!!!11!!!!1

    Vasquez was showing signs of being able to hit by mid 2014. He has doubles power when he makes contact. The real question is will his arm be healthy enough to throw for 80-120 games. If Vasquez can hit around .240 and stay healthy he is the starting catcher. Hannigan should be #2. I don't buy into the idea that the Sox would have more value in Swihart at catcher. The kid is a gifted athlete and looks to become a very good offensive threat. He needs to be on the field every day. Trading him for pitching is stupid unless he yields one of the very best arms.

    I read that Swihart played 3rd when he was younger and was converted to catcher. In any case, he has the tools to play there as well as 1st.

    Exactly. I think that it is possible that this working out at 1st stuff is just a ruse. Designed to make Hanley look desirable to possible sucker trade partners. As in "Hanley wants to play 1st", "Hanley is working hard at 1st", blah, blah, blah. Who knows? In any case, I doubt that Hanley ever plays a decent 1st base for the Sox and I really hope that he is moved somehow.

    Hmmmm. That was one aspect of the play that was not clear. But in any case Fatboy made a bonehead play by not leaving the box when he hit the ball. Maybe if he had run as is the normal practice, he may have been safe at second.

    Louvello says it's just his fastball command without which he has become predictable. Still, I'm with you. Give the guy a blow or shut him down. Still the best reliever for the Sox over the last 4-5 years.
