  1. Well if Ben is a dead horse, Farrell must be Limping Ox ( credit George Carlin ).
  2. I still think that their ethics are selectively hypocritical. And I too believe what you said about PEDs and Jackson.
  3. I am all for someone being punished for having broken a rule or law. I am not sure how I feel on this Rose issue. It is clear that he broke a MLB rule by gambling on games while involved with those games. But what about MLB and their seeming conflict with one of their own big rules? MLB has gotten into bed with gambling with their alliance with Draft Kings or just fantasy. The only difference seems to be that now baseball has a seemingly palatable way of getting paid for money being bet on their product. So I am in conflict over this issue. To me this has much less to do with "has Rose been contrite and has he reformed". Rather, I am looking at the moral and ethical stance of MLB. I say they are hypocrites.
  4. Talksox Place. Lol.
  5. This has been an urgent need since Ben dissolved the starting pitching staff in 2014. DD makes it seem that is unlikely. Too bad because this staff still blows goats. Hope the Sox score 5-6 runs per game!!!!!!
  6. And a bargain at only $13. mil!!!!!! A no-brainer for sure.
  7. This is just widely spread nonsense. It's nice to have teammates that you get along with and admire but at the end of the day pitching is an individual endeavor. A guy is out there alone throwing the ball. Unless Price is a better coach than the guy who does it full time, the concept of "leadership from the #1" is just hogwash to me. We still need a #2.
  8. I think that E Rod must be scene as the #2 as of now. People are concerned about his sophomore status and if he will build on what he did in 2015. Who knows? He is not a genuine #2. I have no trust in the other starters to perform anywhere near their ceilings or to pitch consistently well for any length of time. It's nice to have one of the best pitchers in the game as #1. However, I don't see Price sprinkling magic dust on the other pitchers and making this rotation whole and very effective. f*** that leadership crap. The other clowns have to step up and pitch well.
  9. I have questioned the duration of this alleged debate at least twice. I gave up.
  10. Kind of disappointed by the hypocrites.
  11. I can't even remember what my opinion was.
  12. I would really like to know where Fred would stand on this.
  13. As you should know by now, I am certainly not a Ben apologist. I sort of suspect it was LL who called for at least some of the really dumb moves like Fatso and the Dreaded One.
  14. I'm not sure about that. He raised his BA to .248 or so while at Texas. Probably a small sample size but he did improve.
  15. You are correct. You will always wonder.
  16. He wouldn't involve losing a pick, would he? Also, The Sox would be lefty heavy. Is that Okay?
  17. This must be true. However there remains a core of baseball addicts like us that watch no matter. Even when the Sox are losing I remain hopeful that what I am watching leads to further development of talent and the establishment of the winning culture.
  18. I agree with this big time. Swihart has not put up the numbers to justify 3rd or 1st yet but the kid shows good technique at the plate and seems to be getting better before our eyes as demonstrated in the second half of 2014. He's cheap and cost controlled and pretty athletic, too. Trading him for anyone now would be tough to do unless it was for a big time talent.
  19. I agree with this. Hopefully we will see fewer bonehead plays this year. Including on the base paths!
  20. This is true only to the extent that the rotation pulls it's share of the load. If two or more of that group comes up short in innings the pen will face being over-taxed again. Even with the recent fortifications.
  21. I think Theo better win soon or his team may become the next Dodgers.
  22. Ditto big time. Plus I see him as one of the Cuban players that has not yet perfected some essential game skills. Athletic, yes. Undisciplined and possibly dumb.
  23. I saw an ESPN video of Shilling and that small guy with the big nose and a third guy who I don't know. They all agreed that the Sox have won the off-season. But I am not comforted by this. I like all the moves that Dombrowski has made even with the big contract to Price ( I hate big contracts ). Once again the Sox have so many question marks for my comfort. I think that the team is better off than one year ago but I am not confident that they will be much over .500 unless a bunch of things fall into place.
