So two years at $6.5 mil per year is now reasonable for a platoon hitting , part-time player. Oh joy.

Although when I was leaving a pub in Palmers Green ( London ) one evening while putting my Sox cap back on a few men shouted "GO SOX!". That was cool.

To me a 4th outfielder is sort of like like relief pitching. It can be hit or miss. They are 4th because they may not be good enough to be 1-3. I'll take Youk's stance here. I'm not exited nor am I disappointed and I'll decide what I think in late May or so.

I'm with you on this Hitch. The dust-up with Ortiz is overblown anyway. But I believe that some team will outbid the Sox for Price and I suspect that the Yankees will enter the fray. -
True statement!!!!! However Kimmi, I am sad to report that when traveling in Europe I consistently see more Yankee hats than Sox hats by a wide margin. In fact I have seen almost as many Yankee hats ( the black / black ones are most popular ) as Ferrari hats. It's awful.

When Henry and the Fenway group purchased a Premier League "Football Team" a small group of Brits happened upon Talksox. Several have remained which is cool.

Who are the teams that have been able to demonstrate an ability to win now while maintaining long term success? The Cards? Who else? Things are cyclic. A Team may be good for a while and then become an also-ran.

That Bailey contract was unfortunate. Even so, I believe that the Sox could have had Lester back at about 5/120 -5/125. But only if they struck right after the 2013 season.

I understand your point. We really do not know for sure why the Sox failed to re-sign Lester. I suggested during Lester's 2014 season that maybe the Sox did not want him back. In any case, the Sox and/or Ben FAILED to sign Lester when they could of which is just after the 2013 season. They waited around until after ST to play footsy by offering the $70 mil deal. That was very stupid if the Sox really did want the guy. So I say Ben failed unless it can be proven to me that the decision not to re-sign Lester came from someone else.

Yeah if you dig on the whole WAR thing I guess you would swear that Buch is of more value than Miley. I don't and I have opinions that I formed on my own without someones else's formula dictating what I think. And there is no way you can separate a players contract when approximating his value.

I Agree. Price is a bad man on the mound. It would be nice to see in a Boston uni again.

Again, I agree. I have been saying that the Sox need two top of the rotation arms for over a year. I like the idea of signing both Luxury Tax be damned. -

While I agree with most of what you say Doc, I think that we should Grab them in any order. As in I would not mind if they went out and signed Horseface back and then signed Price. -

If both Handley and Fatboy would play up to their potential ( career norms to best ) this team would be very different. I do not see that happening. Some see this as very likely to happen. I see it as wishful thinking. They are who they are at this point.
