  1. Why? Have you ever been to a real motocross race? Do you know anyone who has? Have you ever ridden a 240 pound projectile over terrain that is difficult to walk on for an entire 30 minutes plus two laps? Do you have any understanding of the conditioning and aerobic fitness required?
  2. No, I guess. I just wonder about such things. It probably comes down to scouting and luck. Especially with high school players.
  3. I was not advocating for drafting only pitchers. I was just thinking aloud.
  4. Wow. I wasn't thinking about it that way.
  5. Back in the early '80s a study was done that concluded swimming and motocross racing required athletes to be in the best shape overall because they use most of the muscles in their bodies more. My guess is that none here would agree that Motocross racing ( actual outdoor motocross racing, not the sensationalized X-Games type s*** ) is athletic. People tend to be narrow minded and not open to new ideas. Motocross is f***ing brutal.
  6. This, of course, makes all the sense in the world. Especially since so many draftees will be high school kids. But, what if, say, the Sox put an emphasis on pitching and draft a disproportionate number of arms? I realize these will still be 4-5 years away from being MLB ready if ever at all so there would be no immediate benefit to the Sox current or near term. But what if they selected 4-5 pitchers?
  7. You aint a rooster poopin neither. The same could now be said for Outfield depth as well. Castillo sucking/under performing, Holt hurt, Swihart hurt. It's young now baby! I hope that I don't have to see Castillo in left. He just cant hit well enough. Then what? Lammar? Brentz? Merrero? Oye!
  8. Was the grind of 140 games comparable in any way to medical school and residency?
  9. This is how I see the issue.
  10. I am not sure but he has like 28 strike outs in his last 3 starts or something absurd. I'd like to see him start on June 18. I am assuming that he can't do much worse than Owens.
  11. I'm one of those Swihart fans. Not because I have a man crush on him or because he was a 1st round pick in probably he best draft class the Sox have had in a long time. No. I just see a tremendous athlete with a passion for the game and a big brain. I guy that plays hard and plays well the vast majority of the time. A few past balls and a dropped foul pop and suddenly he is no longer a viable MLB catching prospect in the minds of many fans. Trade him!!!!! I also like Vasquez a lot for obvious reasons. To say that Swihart won't be missed is inaccurate. Anytime the Sox lose a player with that kind of athleticism it will be noticed and missed. The kid is another game changer like the Killer Bs. I'd much rather have him in left that either Castillo or even Young.
  12. wut Year Age Tm Lg G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+ TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB Pos Awards 2015 23 BOS AL 84 309 288 47 79 17 1 5 31 4 2 18 77 .274 .319 .392 .712 90 113 8 1 2 0 0 2 After a slow start when he was called up do to necessity and had play very few games in AAA. Yeah. After 300 PA one can conclude that he claerly can not hit MLB pitching.
  13. Who knows if he even wants to play anymore? If I'm him I head off to Japan and taste the local fare, so to speak. He has $35. mil owed him so why work? That attitude seems to have worked for him since he left Tampa. I remember being so excited when the Sox grabbed him. I soon realized that User's choice of Worth was much better. What a waste of talent and an ingrate.
  14. I'm surprised the 7 run rule was not adhered to.
  15. Yup. Intentionally allowing a black hole to bat 3 or so times each game is antithetical. Put someone up that can hit and add to the game.
  16. Let's see what the big guy does here!
  17. They could have kept him. Then they could have gotten him back. I think they f***ed up both times.
