  1. Back in 1977 while I was living in South Florida I took my Yoshimura CB400F out for a blast in the Everglades. Just cruising at about 90 or so through the tall reeds on a two lane road when BAM!!! A crow flew out from the side of the road, glanced off my 1/4 fairing and into my chest. f*** did that hurt!
  2. The Sox need pitching but not at the sake of trading assets for someone else's problems. This is not Cory Dillon. This kid has problems that a Boston team does not need ( especially after Aaron Hernandez ). Pass.
  3. lol When I first started riding I used an open face Bell. But after a cicada flew into my face ( under my flat shield ) I graduated to full face Star 90s and eventually Arai.
  4. So a reasonable fudge factor is incorporated in the system. Nice.
  5. The joys of riding a bike!!! But.... "Ten dollar helmets for ten dollar heads". I always rode with the best helmet available.
  6. Maybe so but these glasses would have to be fairly sophisticated not to distort or limit an umps view of the plate. Typical glass , and most applicable plastics, will refract about 4% per side or about 8% in total of incident energy. At the very least these glasses would need an AR, an anti-reflection coating. This is expensive and with plastics, not always easy. What would be the purpose of these glasses anyway?
  7. How wide is the plate? 18 inches? I ask because last night I noticed for the first time that the NESN strike zone was divided into boxes and that the plate was three boxes wide. If the plate is 18" then there were a bunch of pitches that were called strikes that were also at least one box or 6" wide of the plate. I can understand close pitches, ones within say, one ball diameter of the plate, being called a strike. You know, the ones that Ek would call paint. It's reasonable to allow them as called strikes or balls. However, a ball that is so outside that a ball diameter or one box could fit between the ball and the plate is just not acceptable. Baseball has implemented instant replay or review, as they want to call it. I assume this was done in an effort to get calls "right". Why stop there? Especially when 13%-16% of pitch calls are wrong? It make no sense not to try to clean up the game from so much error.
  8. Or, the Sox could play down to the Twins level and come home 3-4 games back. I hope not.
  9. And not that it matters but you did not insult me. Your response to my post was that I am entitled to my opinion ( as are you ). I'm glad Youk interceded. Good job.
  10. I was wondering why I could not post this until I discovered that the thread was closed! Lol. I am happy to say that I have always liked Salty. Certainly a flawed receiver but I don't believe that anyone can question his heart. Plus he was an excellent team mate and from what I saw of him in Boston, a pretty nice guy.
  11. Yeah, I'm not sure about that either. I am hardly anyone who will lavish Buch with praise but I have seen the guy be completely dominant many times. He has wipe-out stuff when he is at his best. But that does not happen with sufficient regularity.
  12. Two pitches clearly outside called strikes.
  13. I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not but I will ask does anyone not expect Buck to be back in the rotation at some point this season?
  14. Yup. Potatoes with s*** piled on top.
  15. Great. But what are they? Potato skins with salsa or something?
  16. The Price Was Right last night. But he was out of gas in the middle of the 7th inning. I'm not surprised he gave up the game winning dinger in the 8th. During the Giants 4th inning at bat I heard a fan yell "Okay pretty boy. Get one wet". Lol. Never heard that one before!!!! This schedule is f***ing dumb. Out to the left coast for two games? They could not have been scheduled in with games in SD, LA, Okaland, and Seattle? Dumb. The Giants bull pen was pretty good, I think.
  17. That guy last night was all over the place with calls. One inning he would call it tight with a pitch on the paint and then the next inning he would call a pitch that was 6-8 inches outside a strike. And he went back and forth with it too.
  18. Not sure about that. I bet Buch will start games again this season for the Sox. And Kelly is still a starting pitcher as far as the Sox are concerned.
  19. I've been on the fence. On one hand I feel much like Kimmi about it On the other hand I believe that if you can take a large chunk of subjectivity out of the game it should be done. As long as the technology is sound and well maintained. I'd like to know more about the mechanics of the system before I endorse the idea fully.
  20. Nyet. It's an obscure Dojji reference. Teahan was one of his binkies.
  21. Probably suffers from the onset of Buchholtz Disease.
  22. I tried this. All I saw was a fuzzy image of a washed up 3rd baseman.
  23. Honestly I do not know why.
