  1. Me too. I don't see another 2/18 deal for him but I believe that he likes it here and would jump at the opportunity for one more year.
  2. I don't see this as being topical. Slab lost his binky. Too bad. Any further discussion is a waste of time.
  3. Yes it was. Just imagine what he could do in Fenway. That guy was born to wear a Sox uni.
  4. Classic Talksox commentary. As if there could be any question of who the King of Talksox is!
  5. I thought that he explained his decision quite well. I'm sure he knows much more about his team and the game of baseball than some "fan".
  6. What the f*** are you saying? Hockey is not international? News to me. Oh, baseball is not international either? Lol.
  7. DD better sign EE ASAP. That is all.
  8. No one needs to prove s***. Look at what happened to Tom Brady who is now the least liked pro athlete in our country. And this election cycle has further reinforced the idea that if you say something that is not factual enough times that it will become generally accepted as fact.
  9. ********. He is wild. He has been that way from day one with the Sox.
  10. Probably not in most circumstances. However, the Sox were in a bind with 4-5 starters and had a team that showed enough to be considered playoff bound anyway. They had to get someone. The timing hurt price wise. But hey, if you want to play you got to pay. Pom has good upside, too. He is also cheap and still young enough to improve dramatically.
  11. Manny was outed when he sprouted a pair of tits as I recall. In any case, he was one of the best RH hitters I have ever seen and when he wanted to play, he could play decent and even spectacular defense. My biggest grip with him was throwing McCormick to the ground and being a disruption in the dugout at times.
  12. Your assessment is reasonable. This all make me think of Jake Peavey. People give him a lot of credit for "stabilizing the rotation". Ugh. That's not what I remember seeing from him. He did pitch some innings, I'll give him that. Pom has done about the same with signs that he could become even better. He's young and cheap, too. I wonder how their stats with the Sox in their first year look "side by each" ( live next to Rhode Island!!! ).
  13. I like Merrero a lot but no way in hell should he replace someone who can actually hit the ball. I say go with Hernandez since he does everything but field SS better.
  14. Like we say here on Talksox, the playoffs are a crap shoot.
  15. Absolutely.
  16. Yup. And as we all should know the playoffs are a crap shoot.
  17. Kelly has looked pretty good since his call-up. I have more confidence in him in the 9th than I have for Kimbrel at this point.
  18. Probably so. However, Kimmi has posted strong evidence that lineup construction ( batting order ) is far less a factor than everyone has been led to believe it is. Just because a manager or team continues to subscribe to long held ideas and strategies, does not mean that those ideas and strategies are most effective or even relevant.
  19. I saw this earlier today. Major points scored with me.
  20. Booking he duckboats this season may be difficult. They are busy mowing people down.
  21. He had also had the stinkers in the rain and high heat / high humidity where he had little control. I think that is a problem that needs to be sorted out if he returns healthy next year. I give Wright a Mulligan for the stinkers this year, though. If he had remained healthy this year I believe that he would have been more effective than not.
  22. Lol. He does look like he is a practice dummy at a mortuary school.
