You guys are hung up on WAR and control.
The Sox had a decent rotation before they traded Lester and Lasckey. Lester could have been signed to a reasonable contract and Lackey could have been extended.
In my opinion the Sox f***ed up by blowing up a functional rotation and replacing it with essentially nothing.
Nothing with more control, though.
How can we sit here in 2016 and project that the Sox can or will win the AL East when we do not know what other teams will look like?
One simple example is what will the Jays do about Joey Batts and EE?
Are the four other team going to stand pat?
I kind of doubt it.
I don't care who wins tonight.
My only reasons for caring at all about the Dodgers is Reddick and Roberts. Otherwise I lump all things LA into the same waste can as the garbage from NYC. Except for Doc Rivers, of course.
Nope. BEAT LA!!!1!!!!1
And f*** anyone who lives there.
The Pats were banged up. But they game planed not to lose instead of game planned to win. That was obvious.
Had they won out they would have had HFA as I recall.
But hey, in BB I trust.
Lol. I'm not super into golf but as I was forced to surf last night I stumbled onto a Long Drive competition.
It was kind of fun watching guys put together like WWE wrastlers swat at day glow pink balls at night.
I could wast more time watching that. It was kind of cool.
Stop with the logic.
This is an issue to be decided on emotion!
Seriously, $25. mil is a risk for any player at any age. Projecting the deal to be "worth it" 7 years from now at age 40 is f***ing nuts.
A-Roid was probably one of the beat players of all time. He was paid that kind of money ( still is!!! ).
Look how that payed off.
No, the jury is not still out. This trade has been a disaster since it happened.
The Sox gave up their 2nd best starter for a turd that did not make consistent starts for two years and now is attempting to become a decent reliever.
The Sox could have and should have kept Lackey and extended him.
Kelly has been of no benefit to this team and the sting of the Craig dead money makes this trade even worse.
And more to your overall point, a team should never, ever, take the foot off the pedal when in the quest for a tittle.
Entering the playoffs flat a team "defeats it's own purpose".
The answer to that is that a team has to give to get.
But I agree with you. The idea that we can easily replace JBJ in Center is misguided. Yeah, we have Beni but he has not show the kind of glove that JBJ is now and is still pretty raw ( although toolsy ). Removing a player from the OF mix the caliber of JBJ is about as ill advised as removing our shortstop. Especially if the "Get" has questionable mechanics and may be a near term candidate for surgery. I want no part of that.
I read somewhere a few days ago that "Xbo" (I ike that Dewey ) Had a DWAR of -1.7 for 2016. Whatever that implies.
We all thought that he had made such great strides in his defense but those pesky defensive metrics get in his way.
We can not have such under performers on our team!!!!!
I was thinking that way when the momentum swung towards SF. I started to chat with a friend on FB and BOOM. Cubs score 4 runs in the 9th.
No two buts about it. That is baseball as we wish we could see each game.
Just terrific.
