  1. No he can not from what he has shown. Waste of roster space in the playoffs.
  2. You people are rationalizing failure.
  3. Poor Tommy Archer. He used to be so good with a bright future. WTF is with 19 loses and 11 loses in a row to the Sox? I hope he can resurrect his career next year.
  4. Are you not allowed to do that when she is present?
  5. What are you saying KImmi? That the Sox staff saw both players MLB ready while in different stages of development? Anyway, it's clar they made a mistake in judging Moncada. Either that or he completely froze in hi brief appearances. He reminds me of an apple pie that has just been removed from an oven ( I've baked thousands of pies ). The shell can be raw or under-cooked even when the top crust looked nice and crispy brown.
  6. So they chose raw athleticism over the ability to hit well. That is encouraging.
  7. Obviously not Moncada unless he somehow miraculously learns how to hit and play at an MLB ready level in 12 or so games in Arizona this winter. The 3rd base question is unfortunately intertwined with the 1st base and DH questions for 2017 in my view. I have no faith in the $95. mil tub of goo. But I bet he gets the first shot at"earning" the position. Oye.
  8. Limp Dick Pom Pom better not blow this.
  9. I'm glad that you had a great time.
  10. Sort of like me. I may not always be right, but I am never wrong!
  11. That's not far from what happened, most likely.
  12. Thank you for not calling me a racist. I knew when I posted that comment that someone would ask about how all the experts evaluated him and came to another conclusion. People make mistakes and companies can become caught up in their own glory and hype. I think that he was brought up out of perceived need ( 3rd base under performance ). How the guys that should know these things missed the fact that he may not know what pitch to expect on any count, may not recognize pitches, may not know how to foul balls off to stay at bat, and run the bases is a question for them, not me.
  13. Doubt it. I say he should start the new season back in Portland to develop and refine basic tools and skills. Then when he looks ready ( laugh ), off to Pawtucket where he should stay for most if not all the remainder of the season so he can start to get a a diet of AAAA breaking balls. Maybe a September call-up. This kid is even less developed than Castillo. He is young. Train and develop him as you would another player his age.
  14. taking a knee is somehow appropriate. Take two.
  15. David Ortiz will never replace Joy Foy in my heart.
  16. So Xander gets a blow. So to speak.
  17. Absolutely. I don't pretend to fully understand what makes a guy a competent hitter against a rhp and a not so good hitter against lhp. But I would have been tempted to keep Shaw in the lineup more often. Maybe if he faces lefties more he adapts and become more proficient? Certainly sitting on the bench will not improve his ability. Again, I certainly don't know. Shaw is hardly all world at any aspect of the game. But I suspect that he will eventually become better all around and his development would be better served with him being on the field.
  18. 3rd base is an expensive position for the Sox. Low bang for the buck if you ask me.
  19. Good call.
  20. It WILL BE pretty f***ing cool.
  21. Yes. We must embrace a "Greed is good" philosophy.
  22. How dare you troll me when I'm trolling!!!!
  23. True. But does the possibility of trading for another ( better piece ) outweigh Buch's value as a 5-6 starter for the 2017 Sox. Most everyone knows that I left the Buch train 2 years ago. But now, even at what I consider dumb money, I see value in Buch. The Sox do not have SP depth to spare. Counting on Owens or even Johnson to morph into functional replacements by next season is foolish when we have a bird in the hand, so to speak. I say keep him because we will most likely need him, warts and all.
  24. I'd call-up Bryce Brentz and put him at 3rd.
