    Travis Shaw is not a problem for this team. I would like to see him get a full season of AB so he can learn to hit lefties. That may not happen if Fatboy shows up ready to ball. I'm all for letting things work themselves out at 3rd base. No need to squander resources to fill a marginal need for upgrade.

    I'm a Buch basher with about 3 years of experience. I wanted him gone before 2016 and did not want his option picked up then. Now I say picking up the option was wise if not a no-brainer because he does provide #6 rotation insurance and inflated salaries make his $13.5 mil seem palatable. I don't see him being traded unless somehow DD acquires some legit rotation depth. It is my view that a team needs not only a number 6, but needs a number 7 and number 8 as well. Our MiLB starters are scrap pieces at best . As much as this guy drives me nuts, he is more valuable right now than if he were shipped off for some inconsequential turd.

    Rutledge was optioned to AAA and he decided to become a free agent. There is now one less option.

    Overall I have no complaints about what DD has done so far. He made some required moves to get our team back into contention. Not all of them have worked out yet. Thems the breaks.

    There has not been a lot of scoring in this series. I love the pitching but jeez I'd like to see more back and forth run scoring, lead changes, and such. The games are interesting to be sure. I'd just like to see some offensive outbursts.

    And Moncada has clearly upped his game in the AFL. After all, he did have a game in which he made 2 errors at 3rd and struck out 3 times. PROGRESS!!!!!!!!1!!!

    I'm here for your enjoyment Moon! By the way, I once promoted a situation where my friend blew a La Cucharacha (sp) , a Tequila / Kaluha shooter drink, out of his nose. I hope you did not stain your clothes.

    Thanks for the edification. I now have reason to suspect the validity of dWAR. Shaw is a decent 3rd baseman but he does not have the reflexes , mobility, range, or even arm to be considered a top flight defender. I watched every game this year and saw almost all the plays that he made. In SpudWAR he is about replacement level or slightly better. And I like Shaw. He should be the starter in 2017 unless someone else shows up big time.

    I am learning so much in this thread. Today I have learned that Travis Shaw is an Elite Defender at 3rd base.
