Not exactly my wish. It just occurred to me when I posted that due to attrition another infielder would be needed. Mererro has been up before and was of little consequence. I think that Farrell will stay with Rutlege at 3rd until he has a viable or hopefully better option. Mererro gives Farrel someone to sub for an infielder other than a 1st baseman and he can pinch run, etc. The team does need a bench to cover all positions. Not sure what he plans for 1st base with Hanley slotted for only DH and Holt supposedly on the mend in Portland. Anyway, one plus from Mererro being brought up is his best Buddy relationship with Betts and Bradley. That may have some benefit as far as moral is concerned.

I was hoping you would not take the bait!!! He does seem to know his stuff but he is very awkward in the booth when the camera is on. He reminds me of the kid in the neighborhood that had all the cool Matchbox cars but would never let you play with them. A Dweeb or Mama's boy.

The Sox have a tradition of what a700 calls "Dumpster Diving" for pitching. This usually involves signing pitchers that have sucked in recent years but are cheap. Not to be confused with low risk-high reward types. Or even Ryan Dempster! That would be "Dempster Diving". It's all explained thoroughly in the Talksox glossary.

Maybe it is not a surprise ( part of what I was pointing to ) but it also does not bode well for bolstering the pen this season.

My fear is that Holt will not return. Pablow is a BIG question mark. If he does return what is it that we can expect from him? Hernandez must have some damage. You can't dislocate bones without doing some damage. I could be wrong, but probably not. Rutlege can hit. But boy does he need to sharpen his defensive skills. I know next to nothing about Selsky. Which tells me that I should not expect too much from him. And who is this lump-du-jour the Sox just signed? So no, Mererro is not out of the picture. Of course the Sox could make an unexpected and possibly expensive trade.

I am waiting for Dojji to start a thread promoting the idea of bringing up Mererro and either putting him at third or moving XB there and putting the glovey Mererro at SS. The odd thing is that even though Mererro is heading further into sub-Mendoza land, he would at least be a defensive upgrade.

So it turns out Marco Hernandez dislocated his shoulder last night and popped it back into place by himself. Looks like he will be on the DL soon. Sox players are dropping like flies.

Since I bitched about Kimbrel being wild and throwing too many pitches and of course never having clean innings the motherf***er has been death to hitters. Now if he can stop pretending to be MVP with that ginger clump of a beard I would be even happier.

Yes I agree the kid is a hell of a 3rd baseman and athlete. My point is that even with all that talent his prevailing characteristic is that he is a punk. -
Also, how does MLB justify a suspension if Sale was not even thrown out of the game? That's nuts.

I have heard so many times that Machollo was one of the 2 best players in the league but I have never seen him as anything but a punk. -
This is some kind of major ******** if Sale gets suspended. For what? Maybe if the umps had warned both teams before the game started and Sale ignored the admonition and threw behind Machollo anyway. Otherwise this really is not fair or appropriate.
