  1. Oh it's always reassuring to hear an expert using metrics few have ever heard of verify what my eyes tell me. I can sleep now.
  2. This team is on a road to nowhere. Blow it up.
  3. Can you show me some statistics that will back your statement? That's the way it's done now. Otherwise your opinion is not valid.
  4. He is becoming the Latino version of Laptop. Should have kept Miller.
  5. Me too. I don't like the contract or how he comports himself. But when healthy and on his game he is still elite. People have a memory of convenience when it comes to his talent and career. He has been a top five in MLB pitcher for 7 years prior to signing with our team.
  6. So he duplicate Holt. I guess. I blame it all on Ben.
  7. Nope. Not with Johnny Neuron at the helm.
  8. My guess is initially it was timing. Now it is that Marrero is the best infielder not named Pedroia in the Org. and Lin has options.
  9. This team is f***ing useless. What a waste of pitching talent.
  10. Yup. Unless something freaky happens this game is over. As for Marrero, who would you put at shortstop to fill in for the terminally injured Bogy? Why not use the best defensive shortstop in the org.? That being Marrero. Your beef is with starting Holt, not Merrero.
  11. Meh. Not really any worse than normal.
  12. I don't see any problem with letting the kid have a day to become acclimated with his new environment. Maybe he can pinch hit or be a "defensive replacement" tonight.
  13. This situation really smells. What a bunch of immature babies. If this s*** had happened on a Bill Bellichec (sp ) some players would be gone regardless of their contract status. The Sox clubhouse sounds like a romper room.
  14. So it's cool to give Pablow 3 years to prove that he can play and yet give Shaw one season and conclude that he can not? I think moving Shaw so early in his MLB career was a precipitous decision. He needed more time to adjust. Now look. He has apparently done so and the Sox are devoid of offense at third. All for a broken relief arm that has one really solid year in MLB.
  15. I like this post.
  16. You can't get a NESN feed? That sucks bigly.
  17. lulz Or maybe spark a six paper fatty and get drunk as f***?
  18. This. I think that "panic move" is over stating the situation. I see it as "nothing ventured, nothing gained". The kid has about 400 PA above high A ball. I read the link that MVP provided and suspect he will not deal well initially with MLB breaking balls. I also wonder about his understanding of which pitches to expect in any situation, and his ability to recognize pitches thrown. Those are skills built with repetition. I suspect that unless he is some hitting savant, that he has not seen enough PA at high levels. I won't be surprised if he is ineffectual initially at the plate. AAA has more pitchers who have thrown decent curve balls ( I think, anyways ). The prudent thing would be to let him finish the MiLB season in Pawtucket. But hey, I have never seen the kid play so what the f*** do I know? I like Marrero at third until such time a proven MLB bat can replace him. Many teams have players starting for them that have weak ( ~ .220 / .300 ) numbers and get away with it. Some of those players do not have elite fielding skills, either. Marrero plays very good defense. I don't see 3B as a drastic or crippling weakness. Oh well. I hope the kid hits.
  19. Look out if he goes to Minnesota.
  20. They have Rutledge to deal with too.
  21. Marrero is not THE problem with this team. Porcello pitched well. Three solo shots hurt but he went a very solid 8 and should have won if this team could hit.
