  1. He should stay, even if nothing more than a contingency for Beltre starting the season batting .100.
  2. If you think that's funny, how about Matt Kemp, 10th pick in the entire draft, for a 7th rounder and a bag of balls...? lol
  3. NY NY
  4. Hey Gom, maybe you could list the team names and TalkSox names so we can tell who's who. Thanks.
  5. What is the name of your team?
  6. Disagree with most of this.
  7. Love the game. Love watching it. But to be honest, it wouldn't be as interesting if stats weren't such a big part of it. We'd be left arguing about how graceful Ellsbury's slide is or how sweaty Youkilis gets. No thanks.
  8. Then again, ANYBODY who followed Dick Stuart at 1B would have looked outstanding!
  9. Hey, what do you think of my new run prevention specialist avatar, Dr. Stranglove?
  10. Prolly better than UZR...
  11. I heard one of the radio guys on EEI dissing his fielding one day. Felger, I think. The guy obviously knew nothing about him, except his weight. Total ignorance. Then a guy calls in to let to the idiot know that Scott had won 8 gold gloves. Total embarrassment.
  12. Absolutely right. Scott was in a league of his own at 1B. Also, he was the 2nd best hitter on the 67 Sox. He popularized the word "tater" for his home runs.
  13. Yaz and Nomar. Current: Youk/Pedroia
  14. Stats have always been used. The whole Hall Of Fame entrance exam is a stat-fest. But stats cannot overrule what the eye can see. For example, even though Nomar made only one error in July 2004, everyone knew he couldn't field the position anymore just by watching him. Stats help analyze the game, but they aren't the game.
  15. Thanks. Rhet's Pets (same as last yr)
  16. What do you think Dick Stuart's UZR was?
  17. They might have to, given that the three guys they brought in are worse than he is.
  18. I think he'll win the batting title if he bats 8th all year.
  19. It was a move to stabilize the position. If he stays healthy, he'll be worth the cost IMO.
  20. 637/80 And in 128 PA with bases loaded, his OBP is .297 with a .206 BA. Ouch.
  21. His career OPS batting 5th is .957. It's 1.097 batting 8th. And over his career, he doesn't hit well with the bases loaded, so it's probably best to keep him lower in the order.
  22. Drew settled nicely into the 8-hole. He was very effective there. And that's why the manager batted him 8th in the playoffs against both righties and lefties. Don't know how anyone can legitimately dispute that.
  23. Why are you guys so hung up on RBI's?
