  1. A middle of the order hitter with a lifetime .390 OBP who's had more than 73 RBIs TWICE in a 12 year career? Are you kidding me? Yeah, I agree, Callapso would drive in more than Drew.
  2. If you hit Drew 3rd on the Cardinals, he doesn't drive in 100. But Pujols does. Every year. Some guys are better driving runs in than others. It's not that complicated.
  3. Dipre, you make a sweeping absolute statement that is factually wrong. I just pointed it out. And for the record, I happen to favor baserunners and hitters who can drive them in.
  4. No.
  5. It's important to have runners on base. It's more important to score them.
  6. Personally, when I measure "production", I look at what has been produced. Runs can be produced by scoring them or by knocking them in. Percentages (i.e. batting avg, obp, ops) are not measures of production. They are percentages related to plate appearances.
  7. But not as many as they need. They also need better pitching.
  8. Batting avg is a measure of how good a hitter a player is. RBIs is a measure of how many runs he knocked in and runs is a measure of how many runs he scored. I still fail to see why you hate these basic statistics so much.
  9. Really? Worse than runs or RBIs?
  10. Ever since they lowered the strike zone to the belt buckle in the 70's (in order to take fewer fouls off their masks and shoulders), the umps have caused the games to lengthen. Return to a little league strike zone and you'll have 2-hour games.
  11. The Rays are overrated.
  12. Phil Hughes on block.
  13. Two bad plays from our outfield accounted for that run.
  14. Think of the positive... Arod: 0 for 5
  15. Would have been out of Yankee Stadium.
  16. I heard he's the best 3B since Brooks Robinson.
  17. Did Cameron have a play on that?
  18. Yep, that would have been through last year.
