  1. What is most frustrating about the last two losses is that they should have been wins. Two days ago Bobby V should have went with another pitcher other than Albers. Yesterday we could have ended the first inning by not giving up any runs if Byrd makes that catch. It is stupid mistakes and the little things are killing us right now. There is no doubt in my mind that we will turn this season around. I know we will not finish below .500 this year. We will get things going. We need to start against the Tribe. Take one game at a time and play professional baseball like everyone on this team knows how to.
  2. Don't start with the Papelbon crap. Get over Papelbon. It is as simple as the Red Sox not wanting to overpay a closer.
  3. 1. Bobby Valentine is fine. 2. Bard is staying in the rotation like he should. It is better in the long run. 3. There is no space available for Padilla in the rotation. When Dice-K comes back, we will have six starters. 4. I agree. I think Middlebrooks is the long term option and he is having a great start. I don't know what we could actually get in return for Youk in a trade though. His injury history is bad and he has struggled some this year. 5. Lavarnway is always an option. Salty and Shoppach will be a sufficient enough combo for us this season. 6. Cook really did not have much of a chance, especially now that he is on the DL. 7. You don't trade a guy like Buchholz. If anything send him down to AAA to develop more and work on his stuff. Dice-K might be back in around 10 days. Buchholz probably has at least one more chance to redeem himself before being sent down is an option. 8. A lot of people do not like Beckett, but realistically he is one of our better pitchers. I am not big on trading him. He will have a solid year. 9. It is amazing that when Beckett struggles, everyone wants to trade him, but when Lester struggles, everyone assumes he will come around. Be patient for both parties. They both will come around and have solid years. 10. I agree. Ellsbury needs to stay healthy when he returns. We need both him and Crawford to stay healthy when they return.
  4. I think Pedroia would be a good SS in the majors. His arm is the only question, but his confidence is so good that he would be fine.
  5. I am not big on playing him in the OF. If he continues to perform well, then I think he deserves playing time at 3B, even if Youk is healthy. Youk has been injury prone and has struggled this year. You might as well go with what is working. Has Middlebrooks even played OF before? I think he has the ability to be a LF because he is so athletic, but I don't think that is the best decision. I would prefer if he stays at 3B. Pedroia played SS, but that was also his position in college. I don't know if you can really compare Middlebrooks possibly playing OF with Pedroia playing SS, because Pedroia was already a proven SS in high school and college. Middlebrooks was a SS and P in high school.
  6. A lot of people question the FO offering Big Papi arbitration in the offseason, now we all know why they did so. They did not want to let him sign with another team. We could have signed him for a cheaper deal, but nonetheless I am still happy we resigned him.
  7. Thank you Middlebrooks for being such a beast. This kid needs to stay here. Do everything possible to trade Youk. I think his time in Boston is done. I am excited for Ells and CC to return. I still do not know the time tables for their return, but hopefully it is fairly soon. I am excited for potentially having Lavarnway, Iglesias, Middlebrooks, and Kalish in the majors next year. Any word on when Kalish is expecting a return? I am hoping that he can get some minor league action at some point this year.
  8. We need to sweep this series. Losing any game this series is unacceptable. Time to stop playing like s*** and time to step it up.
  9. Today is the game that we snap this streak and the game Buchholz starts to pitch better. At least I hope so. Beckett is in line to make his next start. I really hope that Buch can lead this team to a victory today.
  10. After tonight, we still have 16 games against teams that finished under .500 last year. We have a real chance to go on a run over the stretch of 22 games. We could finish well above .500 by the time we play some tough competition.
  11. I am happy that there is no more Thomas. Hopefully Hill can stay healthy. He had a quick recovery. Almost too fast that it concerns me. I think we can count on Hill, Tazawa, Aceves, Padilla, Morales, and maybe even Atchinson in the pen. I like that the pen is progressively getting better.
  12. WOW! I hope he is okay. Get Justin Thomas out of the game. NOW!
  13. Don't be so sure of that. When need a lucky break. Albers warming up. Seriously? I would rather see Padilla.
  14. Stupid, dumb, retarded, idiotic thing to put Thomas in. Send his ass to AAA.
  15. Damn, they got a lucky bounce off of Atchinson. If he does not touch that ball, it might be a double play or we at least get one and only give up a run. Why Justin Thomas? Please do not blow this lead. I will be pissed.
  16. I actually like Cafardo and Abraham. I do not like Mazz. Maybe I like Cafardo because I met him in person and got a free autographed book from him. I guess I do not pay attention to some of the negative stuff he writes about the players.
  17. I just got back from work. I am glad Buch has only given up one run. I am also getting more and more confident in Atchinson. I like Morales, Atchinson, and Aceves in the pen. I also cannot wait for Hill to return soon. It is reported that he is pitching for Pawtucket tonight and is nearing a return to the majors. He might be here well before the June 1st estimated return, which is even better.
  18. For those who live outside of the area that gets NESN or those of you who do not have MLB.tv. Today the Red Sox game is the free game of the day. So be sure to go to MLB.tv to watch it.
  19. Hill is the middle of rehab. Hill is pitching for Pawtucket. I think he will be ready to pitch by June. Hopefully when he returns, that means no more Justin Thomas. Miller has been pitching for Pawtucket and has been struggling. I hope he doesn't return to the majors for a while. We already have enough inconsistencies in the bullpen.
  20. Aaron Cook in four starts in AAA is 3-0, with a 1.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 2 complete games. Aaron Cook in four games in Spring Training was 1-0, with a 1.88 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. I know he has not faced the best competition yet this year, but those numbers are not bad at all and if anyone deserves a shot, it is Cook. Why not give him a chance? Even if it is in the pen in long relief? Some of the guys in the pen have been horrendous. Cook might surprise some people.
  21. I don't understand why Justin Thomas is in the majors, other than the fact that he is left handed. Send him back to the minors. Try giving Wilson and Cook and opportunity as relievers, it wouldn't hurt anything. Hill, Dice-K, and even Bailey will all be back at some point.
