Sometimes a day off is needed. I have not heard that Gonzalez is injured, so I am assuming a lot of this is psychological. If he gets a day off, he will start to think about what it is like not to start and how much it sucks. It is not guaranteed that it will transform him into one of the best hitters in the game, but it will make him realize that he better get his s*** together. It is quite obvious that he is in a slump. He knows it. We do not need him to be a 40 HR hitter (although it would be nice). We just need him to hit the way he can. He needs to play smarter. He needs to take more pitches and be more patient at the plate.
