  1. Cody Ross destroyed that. When he gets a hold of a ball, that thing is going far.
  2. We are making this kid look better than he is.
  3. Posted in the wrong thread.
  4. Time to get some more runs. Let's make a lasting impression on this rookie.
  5. On line drives balls that are hard off of the wall, more times than not with someone with Papi's speed, it will be a single. With balls that would be flyouts in other parks that hit the Green Monster, then most of the time they will be doubles.
  6. Dice-K gave up 5 runs in 5.1 innings today. He needs another rehab start. That s*** is not going to cut it in the majors.
  7. Doubront has a one hitter going. Pretty impressive start for him. His pitch count is high, but he is still pitching well.
  8. Damn, thankfully that was foul.
  9. I like the 3-0 lead. Doubront needs another good inning. Then we have Pedroia and Papi coming up again. I like that, A LOT!
  10. Not a great first inning, but Pedroia and Papi both hit the ball hard. Gonzalez made him work. Let's get this guys pitch count high and start to score some runs. If we don't score 5 off of this guy, then I am going to be pissed.
  11. Bard in the rotation is better in the long run. Bard would be the best short-term option as a closer, but he was an effecitve SP in college and can be in the majors. I think he can be a future #3 starter. There will be ups and downs with him in the rotation, especially until he gets more experience. He will be fine. If we can somehow get Buchholz back on track, then I think we can have an elite rotation with Lester, Buchholz, Bard, and Doubront with either Barnes or Ranaudo hopefully becoming our 5th starter in the next few years. I find it hard to believe that Beckett will be in Boston after his contract is up.
  12. He was hitting in the .220's not too long ago. He has been improving at the plate lately. We all know what kind of potential he has at the plate. He has seven hits in his last five games. There is no doubt in my mind that he will come around offensively. He just needs to settle in and find his swing. He is not any worse defensively at C than Salty is. He has more potential at the plate than Shop or Salty. I think it is time to move him up and give him a chance.
  13. We have Lavarnway. I just wish he would get called up.
  14. Welcome to the circus, Scott. You can now join the clowns that we have in the OF. I am definitely looking forward to watching the circus this year until Ells and Crawford return. On a serious note, I do like Ross, Sweeney, Byrd, and Nava. Sweeney and Ross are both platoon players, Byrd is a decent backup, and Nava is still a mystery. So far everything is going good with Nava. I just hope Ells returns soon. We need at least one quality starter in the OF. I am not really in favor of this trade, nor against it. I don't see him starting for us, but at the same time I could see him a backup option/depth move. We have way too many backups starting for this team in the OF.
  15. Pedroia had a great game last night. He has a 11 or 12 game hitting streak now if I remember correctly. If anyone this season is going to be our team MVP this year, it is going to be Dustin. He is probably our most consistent hitter and our most consinstent player defensively. He is a gold glove defender and one of the best offensive second baseman in all of baseball. Big Papi and Sweeney have been solid offensively so far this year and Gonzalez is starting to get hot. I like what I am seeing from Middlebrooks and Nava. Byrd has been doing decent. A lot better with us than what he was doing with the Cubs. I really hope Aviles and Ross can get hot.
  16. Last chance for Buchholz. Hopefully he has a good outing and we can keep him and Dice-K will be able to replace Beckett in the rotation. Maybe we could trade Beckett, but we will have to probably eat a big portion of his salary.
  17. I am not against bringing up Lavs and Iggy. The only problem is who would go to AAA? I am not against getting rid of Youk, D-Mac, and either Salty or Shop to make room for both Iggy and Lavs. The team would not want to carry three catchers. At this point, I want to keep Nava over D-Mac and then when Ells returns, he can go back to AAA. I think that we should go younger and get these guys some playing time now. Realistically Middlebrooks is our 3B of the future, Lavarnway is our C of the future, and Iglesias could be our SS of the future if he can hit decently at the Major League level. Also, what do we do with Aviles? Do we use him as trade bait or do we keep him around as a backup?
  18. Nava actually has one of our RBI's, so don't hate on the kid just yet. I think we need to go younger. I think Aviles is actually doing okay at SS. I would love to see us bring up Lavarnway as our starter and get rid of either Salty or Shoppach in a trade, along with Beckett, Youk, and McDonald. The offense will come. It does not help when you have to score more than 7 runs to win a game. Our bullpen is surprisingly doing decent.
  19. If Buchholz is struggling still after tomorrow, I would not be against putting Beckett on the DL, sending Buchholz to AAA, and having Dice-K and Miller start. Miller cannot be any worse than Beckett or Buchholz.
  20. Something is obviously wrong with Beckett. Dice-K comes back fairly soon. He will have to take his place in the rotation. Beckett needs to go on the DL. Hopefully Buchholz can somehow start to get better. Our rotation has good quality arms in it, but right now there is clearly something wrong. This sucks. Trade Youk, trade McDonald, and trade Beckett for maybe a decent starting pitcher and/or a decent OF.
  21. Question of the day: Who is going to lose us the game tonight? I don't even look at our standings anymore. What are we now, 12-18? We need to go on a real run. Sweeping this series would be a huge start, but with the way things are going you never know what to expect. Play smart baseball today and hope for the best.
  22. The earliest Ells can return is May 25th. That is six weeks after the injury. I don't think it will be on May 25th because they will probably want him to get some rehab games in. I think early June is a realistic return for Ells. I hope it is sooner rather than later.
  23. We need CC and Ells to return ASAP. Byrd is getting older and is a decent backup on occasion. Ross and Sweeney have not been that bad this year, but they would be better in a platoon role. I like CC in LF, Ells in CF, Ross/Sweeney in RF, and Marlon as a backup. That would be a very good OF. The injuries are the only problem. Yesterday Byrd and Ross both had costly plays. I am not big on sitting Sweeney right now. We need him to play everyday until CC or Ells return. Forget McDonald, I would rather him sit and maybe be considered in a trade package with Youk.
