  1. I still think we should have a trade anyway. I don't see Bard being our catcher of the future, and if we can find a deal to our liking I may not have Bard on the roster at all. I mean we can afford to give up a pitching prospect or so, but we don't want to make a habit of getting screwed over by the Rangers in trades.
  2. Thanks dude...I was too myopic and thought it was a dot.com, which also brings me to a message board, albeit undeveloped.
  3. What does SOSH stand for? I'm pretty new to the Red Sox message board scheme--only posting here, ESPN, and that site I mentioned I got banned from. Ditto on the elitist moderator thing. I'm not saying I was completely innocent, but if a moderator is going to instigate and dish it, he should be able to take it in return. Following posters around and instigating them and then banning them for eventually fighting back isn't cool...especially from a moderator. I'm having a good time here at talksox though. Mods are definitely far more down to earth. Case and point, I don't even know who's a moderator and who isn't.
  4. Dude....you can't tell someone to save the haughty attitude after making a comment like that. Despite being greatly outnumbered here, we're not out to get you. There's a reason why you're outnumbered... Oh, and for the record, I can totally relate on getting banned from a mediocre site because of going at it with a moderator...long story...
  5. Then he can go fornicate himself with an iron stick. I mean if he wouldn't want to be a "coach" or whatever position he'd be at, then I doubt he'd be of much use teaching a rookie if he were a player anyway. I mean considering our options I'm fine bringing him back for this next year, but at a reduced salary. I'll withold judgment on the 2010 season depending on how Varitek does this season. If he does well then I'd probably sign him or offer him something for 2010, but otherwise I'd let him go. Again, we're basically arguing hypotheticals here. We'll see how low Varitek is willing to go salary-wise. He should sue Boras for malpractice...hahaha
  6. Just for the record, we don't necessarily have to have Varitek PLAY catcher for him to mentor a young trainee for the 2 years. We could have him play next year and then have him as a "catcher coach" or some managing position. In other words, we could have Varitek train a rookie AND not have his black hole in the lineup is what I'm saying. I don't know the rules regarding managing positions or anything, but having Varitek mentor someone does not guarantee that we have to sign him as a player for the duration.
  7. Yeah, I see Manny going to the Yankees as being a real kick to the groin for Red Sox Nation. Not even Caligula would think of something that evil...
  8. Wow, it must be REALLY hard to get banned around here.....
  9. Yankees suck, Jets suck, Knicks suck
  10. Go Spurs!!! just that to let that one out...I wouldn't be surprised if I were the only Spurs fan on here...
  11. I think what bosoxnation is arguing is that there's a difference between getting in the HOF on the first ballot, and getting in eventually. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that bosoxnation is arguing that Kent deserves to be in the HOF but not on the first ballot. Am I anywhere close bsn07??
  12. I was asking because he just got SERVED....
  13. To whom are you referring?
  14. Plus, steroids hasn't been as much of an issue to Kent as compared to other more recent potential HOF'ers. I'm not saying that Kent did/didn't take steroids, I have no clue so I won't guess or argue either case, but the fact is that Kent's numbers don't have the same question marks that others do. Besides, character was never a determination or a requirement for the HOF. Kent isn't the first and won't be the last jacka** with HOF consideration. A-rod is a shoe-in and Bonds looks to be as well and they are nearly equally the same amount of jerks. (I apologize but the last sentence was really difficult to make grammatically correct, as even a blind English major would stutter at that one).
  15. He doesn't even seem to be that good even when he's not on the DL.
  16. I'd consider voting him for the HOF, but he's so much of a jerk that I have no sympathy if he never gets in. Let's just say that if I'm a pitcher, and I had to choose to throw at A-rod or Kent, I'd have to call a timeout to decide which one to peg. Seeing how much I hate A-rod shows how much of a jerk Kent really is. He's an awful human being.
  17. Do you play tennis 26 to 6?
  18. Would any Yankee fan care? And isn't that part of the problem??
  19. And even then Burnett was just on the team (03 Marlins), but only had 4 starts before missing the year with Tommy John Surgery while with Florida.
  20. I'm pretty sure that I have as many World Series titles as Tex, Sabathia and A-rod combined...
  21. In that case I hope that Yu Darvish becomes Kei Igawa part 2.
  22. I'm not arguing that you don't bring up a good point Ed, I just think that your reason for not getting Dunn isn't as big as the reason I argued. And if they could work around my deterrent, then they'd easily work around your quandary.
  23. If this were a game of Family Feud (Famliy Fortunes in England) and I had to guess the top reason why Dunn isn't on the Sox, I'd bet that "no place in the lineup/bench" is way higher than "Dunn can't play defense" (points to the wall) Survey says....
