  1. I'll give you a hint. My American Football team is the one I thought you'd root for. And my NBA team is in your home state. And my NHL team is from the same city as the 2008 WS Champions.
  2. I wasn't expecting that. My team is probably just as big of a minority here, possibly more so.
  3. Hey Destroyah, I was curious, what American Football team do you support?
  4. I'd love to see Pedroia or Youk as captain, especially if one of them chews a teammate out for not hustling. I want to see Pedroia get all up in someone's grill.
  5. In addition to Destroyah's graph (which I like by the way), Gonzo has had many flyouts that would be HR's in Fenway or the LPFKAYS (Launching Pad Formally Known as Yankee Stadium). I remember they did an analysis of Gonzo's spray chart on SOSH and at around a month ago Gonzo had more than 15 flyouts in Petco that would have been HR's or 2B's at Fenway. And that's assuming a similar air pattern since we're going on distance, height, and location. If he were playing at the LPFKAYS then that'd increase his totals dramatically.
  6. Gonzo costs a whole lot less, so the Padres didn't need to get rid of him. The Padres needed to get rid of Peavy's salary and as such, couldn't require a larger return. With Gonzalez, the salary pressure isn't there, so the Padres can command (rightfully so) a larger return than they could for Peavy.
  7. I understand that. And now I'm defending myself. Just because I'm no longer watching the games doesn't mean that I'm not following the team or supporting the team. Otherwise I'd have my American Football gear out and I wouldn't be posting on a baseball message board. I've always supported the Sox through the hard times and I still support them now. I just don't feel like watching the games anymore. Keep in mind that your night games start at midnight my time. I don't feel like staying up until 3-4AM almost every night for the rest of the season. I'm f***** tired of it.
  8. Funny. This reminds me of the first time I found out that many of you were high schoolers. Unlike other sites, the mods and the ones with the most posts are mature, level headed adults. In this case, most of the (most) frequent posters are children and posts like these reflect how blatantly obvious this is. I'm going to guess you're 15-17? Besides Italstallianion = Ital + Stall + ian + ion Now put 1 and 3 with 2 and 4 to get: Ital + ian (Italian) and Stall + ion (Stallion)
  9. Reflecting off of this, I never singled anyone out for being stupid. But I read through nearly 250 posts of the same old thing, back and forth, which mostly consisted of the usual Dipre vs. Dojji argument with a few other regulars thrown in. I wasn't singling any one poster out for being stupid, but I believe this entire thread turned into shambles via page 1. If I wanted to say that a particular poster was being a f***** idiot, I'd have done so. Instead I was commenting on how this thread has been repeated and beaten over and over again while nothing has been accomplished. It's just a bunch of interchangeable insults from posters claiming that they are tougher/smarter than one another.
  10. Don't you ever say that, or even suggest that again. I will hit you where you stand. I never want to be mentioned in the same post as Gom, let alone within the same sentence. I am nothing like that a******.
  11. No, I stopped watching the games because I knew that we were boned for this season. I'm always a fan of the Sox and I'm always a baseball fan, but I'm done with 2009. I'm focusing on 2010, and it so happens that this is very much a 2010 issue. So you won't see me in a GameThread often, but I'll be around.
  12. I think I gave myself migraines by reading some of the stupidity that's transpired in this thread for the past few pages. I read all of the posts so I can make sure that I saw everything that was brought up. My head hurts. I'll just say that I agree with Dipre and A700.
  13. Funny how Tazawa's first batter faced was one of his favourite players growing up in Japan. I bet Japan was excited to see that matchup.
  14. If Smoltz stays in Atlanta the rest of the season and retires, do we get any of the money back? Not like it's a concern for Boston, but it does help a bit, and is certainly nothing to ignore.
  15. While that was one of my concerns about getting Martinez (not that he isn't a good pitch caller or anything, but rather it would take a while to get used to the Bosox staff) we have to give him credit here. He's only caught 2 games and they were with Buchholz and Smoltz pitching. Not only this, but they were against the O's and Yanks, two very good hitting lineups. If that wasn't enough, they were both on the road at Camden Yards and Yankee Stadium, which are both very much hitters parks, which is quite an understatement for the Launching Pad formally known as Yankee Stadium. I think we need to wait some time before this idea can earn any merit.
  16. He never said anything about Smoltz not giving up double digit runs. Plus since it's on the road he only needs to go 8 innings for a CG.
  17. Germantown (Tenn.) HS shortstop Jason Thompson, an 11th-round pick, has agreed to terms with the Red Sox on a $300,000 bonus. A 2008 Aflac all-American, Thompson was Baseball America's top-rated high school position player in Tennessee this spring. He's a 6-foot-1, 180-pound switch-hitter with good athleticism, plus speed and solid arm strength. He profiles more as a second or third baseman, and area scouts wanted to see him drive the ball more consistently. He had committed to Louisville. We signed our 11th rounder, 20th, 22nd, and 41st which should be updated.
  18. We'd be lucky to split the series against the Yanks. Just for this board's sake, I'd hope for nothing less.
  19. Well, at least it's one less game we have to play those a*******.
  20. Well at least this is one less game we have to play these a*******. I'm sick of these b******* and I'm sick of losing. Maybe the Yankees will accept cash bribes.
  21. F*** this, I'm out of here. F*** the Rays and f*** these guys for always losing to these a*******. F*** everything. F*** it all.
  22. I'm thinking about starting a fund for the Red Sox so we can buy a win against these guys. The Rays can use the money and we can use the win, so it seems like a win win deal. And donations are tax deductable....
