  1. Every hit thus far for Boston has been a HR. They must be working on increasing their SLG%. Good thing seeing not 1 but 2 shots from Pedroia.
  2. For the record, I knew you were being sarcastic, and I too thought it was blatantly obvious. However, the italics would have made it clear.
  3. Great day with the win and the Yanks, Rangers, and Rays all losing.
  4. There's a difference between history and geography. And there's a difference between "taking" and "passing"
  5. I'd have to agree with most of what's being said. The Boise State guy was an idiot for talking s*** without his helmet on and even shoving the other player, and THEN turning his head away as if the Oregon player isn't going to respond. While I'm immature and would have hit the Boise State player in that scenario, I don't consider it to be the right move. He jeopardised a future career and his spot on the team (as he's now suspended for the season) and made a fool of himself on television. I will say that the Boise State player deserved some kind of physical contact and ensuing punishment, but punching him in the fact isn't the right answer, even if I would have done it in that scenario. But I'm a sore loser. Not proud of it, but at least I'm honest and self-aware.
  6. I'm not a Pats fan, but I know that Bruschi is a class act and has positiviely influenced the sport of American Football. I wish him the best.
  7. Now that's some good breathing room heading into this series at Tampa.
  8. This will be a huge loss for the wild card standings.
  9. Not to mention how great it is that we "stole" this one (seeing that it was Byrd vs. Halladay) and that the Rays blew their game while it was just as likely that the reverse happened. Now we just need to hope that Texas loses even though they just took the lead.
  10. What's his velocity like?
  11. Actually 8-0, since we'd only bat 8 innings since we're at home.
  12. I definitely think he deserves another year. He may not put up great numbers, but he'll only cost $4 million, he'll go deep into games (within starts) and he usually gives our offense a chance to win. He's definitely worth the money and can contribute something to the team. We could use the depth options.
  13. If Halladay loses this game he'd have a career losing record vs. Boston. He's currently 13-13 with a 4.39 ERA against the Sox.
  14. I just had a bunch of catfish tacos with chili and ranch and all of the taco fixins. It was hot as hell but I chose a particularly hot chili sauce. And for the record I'm actually referring to the hispanic cuisine, rather than the obvious metaphor meaning catfish taco = pussy.
  15. I don't blame Tito for putting Oki in. There were lefties at the plate and Papelbon threw a lot of pitches yesterday. Also Buchholz was at 107 pitches and was giving up hard contact in the inning. The thought process was there, just the results weren't. I'd be angrier at Okajima than Francona for that move, although I'm not angry at anyone seeing as we won. It's also worth nothing that of the 9 starts from Buchholz, he's had 6 good to very good ones and 3 really bad starts. Although one would like to see more consistency, he's obviously got great stuff and he's still pretty young. Hopefully he can keep up the trend as we get closer to the playoffs.
  16. It was closer than I liked, but a win's a win.
  17. While it's worth pointing out that Clay Buchholz will be 3-0 on the season vs. Toronto (assuming the score holds), Ricky Romero will be 0-3 vs. Boston in 4 starts. Going into this game he was 0-2 with a 10.50 ERA.
  18. I just noticed that Buchholz's only 2 wins of the season have come against the Blue Jays. If he's lucky enough to get the win tonight all 3 of his wins would be vs. Toronto. Hmmm.
  19. I was hearing that in his last start that Farrell found that Buchholz was tipping his pitches a bit. I'm surprised that they discovered that this early, but whatever was worked on seems to have worked thus far.
