  1. Swing and a miss.
  2. Only 4 NFL Championships, and they were in 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964.
  3. Point taken, but I'm sure that there are many better examples, and more worthy examples of "sucking" than Justin Masterson. In other words, I doubt that the first thing that people think of, and thus the sole definition of the word, would be a no name starter for a no name franchise in a no name city.
  4. In the Eastern Conference, which is like the Eastern Conference in Hockey, the National League, or the NFC West.
  5. Surprisingly, only 4 out of the 14.
  6. Do you really think that?
  7. I think that if they were the same age, this debate would be over. I honestly don't think it's fair to use Kobe's age as an argument for LeBron. That'd be like using Kobe's career point totals in an argument against LeBron.
  8. Just a few quick things. First, the last comment was a clearly a joke, as I don't spend money on porn, and I didn't want to join a money league since I hadn't played fantasy baseball prior to this season, and I'd rather get experience under my belt before I throw money down. (although I won my fantasy football money league even though it was my first season ever) Next, I'd prefer it if you didn't refer to me as IS. It's not that I'm offended in any manner, it just sounds like you're capitalising the word "is" rather than referring to me. Third, while I disagree with your plan to limit roster moves, and while I think you have not remotely justified a decision in doing so, my main problem was that you seemed to be entitled to make such a rash move without the approval of people in the league. While we can argue the merits of stream starting, it isn't really the crux of the issue. It's that you were going to do it in a money league without consulting and getting the approval of league members. You were basically turning into Gom, a drunk with power dictator. So, I'm not pissed off as a member of the league because I'm not in the league, (if I were in the league, I'd be demanding my money back if you put a move limit), I'm just pissed at your attitude and arrogance/irreverance which is why I got involved in the first place. As Dipre mentioned, you came off as arrogant and you were talking down to me. While my approval is not necessary for such a decision, my points were and are still valid. You are generally a better poster than that, and I was angry because I thought more of you. Just like when you spazzed out on Spudboy and demanded that he be banned, this chain of events caught me off guard.
  9. Now, to rip you apart in words that even you can understand. 1. It doesn't matter if you can pick up the starter the day before or the day off. That's just a petty difference between Yahoo and ESPN leagues. 2. I know what streaming is, I just had never heard of the word "streaming" to describe it. I don't see anything wrong with it. Dipre is cutting his losses by adding starters for their start, and then dumping them and picking up a new starter the next day. That's what I've done the entire time in the other Talksox league. The premise is that a starter when he isn't starting is a wasted roster spot since he won't enter the game and contribute. In addition, some pitchers have value hidden in their matchup rather than in their talent. So a pitcher who might normally be worthless, can contribute by facing an inempt offense. Just because Dipre is smart enough to realise this and you aren't, does not make it unfair. 3. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense. The tactic is available to everyone, so it is unfair for you to discriminate against those who use it. Also, even if you are leading in QS and K's, you'd still want to stream start to prevent your opponent from taking those categories. Especially if it is a can't miss matchup, you can wind up with all 4 categories. In addition, you can also take the good starters before your opponent does and harbour them on your roster, so EVEN IF you don't use them, you prevent your opponent from doing so. So your point is wrong on both counts, as the team leading in QS and K's can just block the opposing player from good matchups. It is that easy. 4. This is your same point as #1. I know what your proposal is, and I disagree with it. While my disagreeing with your proposal doesn't matter since I'm not in the league, the point that your proposal is garbage is still valid. In addition, MY MAIN POINT, which is that you have to get the opinions of the group members before you make a rash decision, is still valid as well. 5. Just because someone makes more transactions than another, doesn't mean that he's doing anything wrong. Unless you set up the rule from the beginning saying otherwise, then it's perfectly fair game. In the free Talksox league, I outnumber Dipre in transactions by 76-35 (acquisitions), 73-34 (drops), 237-91 (activations). The point is, you have made no argument as to why this is wrong. You simply dismiss my points just because I'm not in the league. While my opinion doesn't matter for voting purposes, you have done nothing to disprove my arguments. I really thought you were a better poster than this, but everybody makes mistakes. Go ahead and ignore me, but you'll still be wrong. Even when you take your fingers out of your ears, you'll still be ignorant and stubborn.
  10. Just for clarification, I knew what streaming was, I just did not know that the word "streaming" was used to describe it. I understand what you are saying, I just think it's a load of bulls***. Sometimes, I have the feeling that you're an intelligent and respectable poster, but you can be arrogant and stubborn. You assume that I'm wrong and ignorant just because I'm not in the league, when arguably I know more of what I speak of than you do. I lost a lot of respect for you here. You really have no idea of what you're talking about. I expected more from you.
  11. That's because we never do.
  12. I would die laughing if Kobe read Talksox, and referenced this thread in an interview and talked about how LeBron can't do what he's doing. He'd be all like "Hey Emmz, watch LeBron do this..."
  13. That's bulls*** and you know it. First of all, everyone is free to use that tactic, so you can't blame people who have the faster trigger. Second of all, if you want to stop other people from picking up good starters before their game, you can just as easily pick them up a day beforehand. Also, as Dipre noted, most of the good pitchers are on rosters, so you'll essentially be taking a shot in the dark with some random no name starter. Besides, not all roster moves are related to spot starts. People get injured, people sit out games, and some people have better matchups than others. Heck, there are tons of roster moves that aren't related to pitching at all. It's one thing to put a limit on the number of starts that can be made in the league, but it's another to go rogue and put a limit on roster moves. Anyway, it's not guaranteed to win QS and K's, because the other person can do the same in order to block the first person's attempt at it. There is real skill in using spot starts correctly, and often times, it has given me ERA and WHIP, in addition to K's and QS. For example, at the beginning of the year, I used Mike Leake, Barry Zito, Tom Gorzelanny, Joel Pineiro, and Jeremy Guthrie in spot starts, and they all worked. It takes skill to decipher which FA scraps are good and which ones will due poorly. Whether I am in the league or not does not change the premise that your argument is bulls***. If the majority of the league wants to eliminate spot starts, then fine. But if they don't, and you go on a power rampage to eliminate something you don't like, then you're no better than that which thou hath forsaken. (You'd be turning into Gom.)
  14. I didn't know you were trying to move Todd Helton, I'd have taken him. I have him in my other league.
  15. I was referencing the thread where we argued whether or not it's ok to bunt in order to break up a perfect game. I was waiting for someone to try and argue the affirmative here, but nobody did.
  16. Looks like there have been more posts from after the game than were posted during the game.
  17. Oh well, you can't win them all. At least we made a s*** load of people s*** themselves for a while.
  18. Sucks about Kendry Morales. Damn.
  19. Post #620 agrees with you.
  20. I wonder why the Marlins players didn't try to bunt to get on base to break up the perfect game.
  21. Also, I bet that the Rays are happy that they are no longer the most recent team to get no-hit/perfect gamed.
