  1. I'd be (negatively) surprised if that is the deal.
  2. I'm going to try and wait until a deal is official before reacting, positively or negatively.
  3. That said, if I ran a AAA team I'd pull random people just to troll everyone.
  4. I just assumed that if Bradley was pulled for a trade and if Workman was included in it then he'd have been pulled too. You're right as it could always be a different trade and I feel like we needed a reliever more than a starter at the deadline anyway.
  5. I'm surprised that Workman wasn't included in a trade. I thought he was one of the Rule 5 guys the Sox would trade to clear spots to protect other guys.
  6. Gordon Edes @gordonedes If there is a trade going down involving Bradley, it's not for Peavy, source says THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
  7. I don't want Peavy, but even if I did I don't think he's worth any of our top 10 prospects. And I don't think Chicago has any other useful pieces to throw in since we already have Thornton, they traded Crain to Tampa, and they are looking to trade Rios to Pittsburgh. Now I would trade JBJ to Chicago if Sale was coming back...
  8. Even without Ellsbury and JBJ we'd have Nava/Gomes/Victorino/Carp plus Kalish/Brentz in AAA (not implying they'd be near MLB ready for next season) in addition to a boat load of money and an extra draft pick from Ellsbury. We could be a lot worse off. And that's assuming JBJ would instantly replicate Ellsbury's stats beginning next season. I wonder what the OF free agent class is. Isn't Hunter Pence on it?
  9. If I had to choose one of the big 3 (Bogaerts/Bradley/Cecchini) to part with, I think I'd choose to part with Bradley. That said the most we should also throw in is one of those RDLR/Owens/Barnes/Ranaudo/Webster arms, and that's only if Philly is eating a lot of money, which as SFF notes, can help us retain Ellsbury to make up for having just traded JBJ. Otherwise it should be JBJ and a few of the 10-20 level prospects. I'd say Workman but he's kind of busy right now. And if we're trading JBJ for a starter not named Lee then it's automatically a bad trade imo.
  10. It almost seems beneficial to have a crappy farm system so you can give up your top prospect without really doing much damage. (Crappy in terms of top heavy talent)
  11. Random question, if a player has a no trade clause, and waives it to be traded to a team, does his no trade clause follow him to that new team? Does waiving it for the trade waive the clause entirely or just for the purposes of the trade?
  12. Honestly I feel like taking Young would be a favor to the Phillies and would lessen the prospect/money package going back, whereas Philly is probably trying to sell us on including Young to raise the prospect/money package going back.
  13. At least we have less than 24 hours remaining until the dust settles.
  14. I think "too expensive" will be defined if a final deal is reached. Right now Phillies price is too expensive, but I think if they go down a bit we can talk. Outside of a reliever Lee is the only piece I'd want to add by the deadline. Definitely a better return on investment than Peavy/Norris/Garza even if he is overpaid. We don't need much other than another good reliever. I'd be disappointed if we came away with nothing considering how the other buying teams appear to be making moves.
  15. I will say a playoff team without winning the title is worse than not making the playoffs imo, so I do think we need to be mindful about trying to fix any holes and put together a legit title contender. BUT...it's foolish to unnecessarily deplete the future in order to do so. (Especially considering how random/lucky/flukey the playoffs are) I'm all for Lee, but hell no to trading half of our top 10 for Stanton.
  16. If we needed an OF then I can see going for Stanton, but we don't have an OF need, so we'd be creating a bunch of problems to solve one. I'd be more interested in the untouchable pitchers (Kershaw/Sale/Strasburg) than Stanton/Harper/Trout.
  17. Is the Dodgers system on par with ours? Is their top 3 prospects the same as ours? If the Dodgers want to gut their franchise and even further f*** themselves they can help themselves.
  18. I'm not going to lie, I think Harold Reynolds makes the draft chat entertaining just because he's the token "Special Olympics" guy that Autism Awareness parades around in order to make the rest of the retarded population not feel as bad about themselves.
  19. I think anyone that knows our system knows that we have the prospects to trade for Lee without including Bogaerts.
  20. I was ok with losing out on Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez due to the money and many question marks, but it's hard not to be disappointed in not signing Wilson.
  21. I thought the Phillies said that Lee was experiencing "neck pain" haha great cover up.
  22. I think Lee either goes to us or doesn't get traded at all. I see Peavy getting traded regardless of whether or not it's us. (Which I hope it isn't)
  23. Yeah but you can only say so much before his feelings get hurt and he blocks you on twitter.
  24. I assume you're being extremely polite when you say "fairly silly" It's ok, nobody is going to judge you for saying Rosenthal's piece is "f***ing retarded"
  25. Brentz is out for the year so it's unlikely he gets traded.
