I think you are wrong Coco...the Cards are under strict budget constraints and although Pujols is the face of the franchise, he is only under contract for one more year. The Cardinals need to get some young pitching in their system and I think they would at the very least, consider listening to an offer from the Red Sox. Wellemeyer, Piniero, Walters, Lohse ....Now that Carpenter is gone for a couple of months..they have only Wainwright who is not a #4 or #5 on most teams... Their pen is absolutely abyssmal. I just talked to a die hard Cardinal fan ..Pujols is his idol.. he thinks that would get it done... He follows them religiously and cites their barren farm and lack of pitching talent(starters and pen)...as well as Albert's upcoming extension alks as his reasoning. Buchholz and Bard could easily be on their staff next year...if not right now.. Bard could be their closer by years end...Lars could be their 1st baseman by end of year.... This is the type of deal that could get it done IMO.

Ortiz is toast.. No wonder they went so hard after Tex... he is absolutely washed up. I think the Sox should start asking St. Louis how they feel about Bard, Buchholz, Lars Anderson, and Michael Bowden.. St. Louis has a bunch of rag-tag starters and a terrible pen with no good pitching prospects to speak of...at least none that are ML ready(Perez is overrated IMO)... Pujols can only be had for a HUGE package.. I think the Sox have what it takes to do it.

Manny Ramirez has a lifetime OPS of 1.004 Arod has a lifetime OPS of .967 It is a pretty well know fact that OPS is the truest measure of how good a hitter actually is... A-rod is nowhere near the hitter Manny is...not even close. The question was best right-handed HITTER..moron. Manny is also a World Series MVP...something Choke-Rod will never be.

So is this the same Yankees pen that was supposedly as good as the Sox pen? Nobody ever questioned Rivera or even Bruney... it was the other clowns ....the clowns who just got taken deep by The immortal CESAR IZTURIS! What a power hitter...what a SLUGGER! HAHAH! Sinkerballers can do it with 2 pitches. Both his sinker and slider are filthy. All he needs is a get me over curve for a change of pace. I would be more worried with Mr. Masterson's shaky control. With the movement he has on his sinker/slider combo, he will dominate if he can throw with reasonable, consistent accuracy.

OK...let's assume Papi did juice..and it is a possibility.... Red Sox.... Papi Yankees... Giambroid, A-roid, Pettite, Sheffroid, Clemens(obviously he took them after he sucked it up his last 2 seasons with Sox...proof is in the EPIC turnaround in his numbers). I'd say the Yankees are still well up on the Sox...and that is IF Ortiz took them. -
If A-rod is on that list... wouldn't surprise me at all to see Manny and Ortiz on it as well. If they are going to hang A-rod out to dry..they better come clean and name everyone. If Ortiz or any other Sox did...they should use this time-frame to come out.. If they come out now, they can at least have the dignity of doing it on their own terms before the inevitable happens and all names are released.

Oh man this is f***ing beautiful! If anything can derail the Yankee PAPER juggernaut, this surely can! I cannot wait to here the A-ROID and CHEATER chants at the Fens! Good times...f*** that..GREAT times! This will be a distraction for the Yankees for the entire year! I am not saying they will lose because of it....but it will be a distraction all year. Couldn't happen to a bigger bitch than A-rod. Another reason that, for all his talent, he will never be respected like Jeter is.

I actually agree with JAX on Smoltz.. that was MAJOR surgery...not to mention the age factor. Anything we get from Smoltz is gravy IMO. Ditto for Saito. Penny not so much. If people are expecting him to be a #2 or even #3 they will be disappointed. Penny has very good stuff and his injuries were minor compared to Smoltz. Penny aslo pitched in an extreme pitchers park when he compiled his numbers for the Dodgers. I do however think Penny can be a solid #4 for the Sox. Assuming he stays healthy I can see him sporting a 15-10 record with a low 4 ERA and decent WHIP. Dice-K to me is the one I am worried about. Throwing as many pitches as he does and has over his career, he is bound to have some injury problems. I would like to see him challenge hitters early in counts and make them beat him. As Jax and others have noted, you cannot expect his BA w/RISP to continue at such a ridiculous pace. I am not worried about Beckett or Lesterat all. They are both aces. -
