  1. I absolutely love the move. Crawford has killed us for years with his speed. Now we get to use to our advantage for a long f***ing time. If Ells stays healthy, the Sox will steal a ridiculous amount of bases next year. And we have more than enough power behind them to drive them home.
  2. Sox just turned Lowell and Lugo into Crawford contractually speaking... unf***ingbelievable. I'm still in shock.
  3. Rosenthal says there's some guaranteed money language that needs to be worked out and a physical has to be completed as well, but it's pretty much a done deal. http://twitter.com/#!/Ken_Rosenthal/status/12729044046979072
  4. It's official. Globe is running it on their site. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/12/red_sox_to_sign.html?camp=localsearch:on:twit:sox MLB Trade Rumors has it as well. And ESPN is running it as we speak in their live blog online.
  5. $20.28 million a season. Here's hoping he'll be the game changer Theo and Francona think he is. Cannot wait to see this offense in action.
  6. Unbelievable. Pretty sure I just spit my drink all over my keyboard when it popped up in my twitter feed. I am so f***ing stoked right now.
  7. I'd be surprised if they don't end up with him in the end, but I'm not counting out the Rangers and the Angels from making a legit run at him. From all accounts, Lee enjoyed his time in Texas immensely and playing within a few hours of his home in Arkansas was a major bonus as well. If the Rangers give him a 7 year deal he's in the bag... a 6 year deal with bigger numbers would probably do it as well. At the very least I suspect he'll let the Rangers have a chance to match whatever the Yanks throw at him. The Angels are intriguing as well. Add him to the top of their rotation, and they're looking really good with Haren and Santana behind him. Their offense would lack the firepower the Rangers have, but a healthy Morales and a few role players could solve that. Plus that kind of staff would have the ability to shut down opponents enough that it wouldn't matter. That said, I'd be ecstatic if the Sox went all in and got him. Our rotation would be beyond belief.
  8. 7 years at $23 million per is exactly what I expected to see... about $161 million on top of the $6 million he's making this year.
  9. Heyman just posted the probable numbers for the extension... Appears #redsox will add about 7 yrs at about $23 mil per to a gon's $6 mil '11 salary. But no extension will be announced yet.
  10. Sherman (NY Post) is speculating that the Sox prefer to announce the extension next spring anyway to help out on the luxury tax front... gives us room to potentially add another bat (Crawford?) without getting killed financially for doing so.
  11. Heyman's latest... Hearing #redsox satisfied a multiyear deal can be arranged w a-gon. have common ground on parameters. No extension will be announced now. http://twitter.com/#!/SI_JonHeyman/status/11587518281551873
  12. The only thing that matters is that he'll be wearing a Sox uniform in February... there is no way he only plays one season and walks. Guarantee he gets a major extension sooner rather than later.
  13. Somebody check on GoBruins... he's probably on a bridge somewhere cursing Theo and jerking off to his pic of Dan Duquette
  14. Knew this s*** was far from over... time to celebrate!
  15. Heyman is now reporting it's a done deal... press conference expected for tomorrow!!! http://twitter.com/#!/SI_JonHeyman/status/11582734577172480
  16. He may not be the shrewdest owner in baseball when it comes to the actual management of the team, but you don't accumulate the kind of wealth Henry has by being a moron. He knows what he's doing on the business side of things. And at the end of the day, that's what the Sox are... a business. That's not how we see it as fans, but that's how it is.
  17. From everything I've heard out of Heyman, Rosenthal, and Pete Abraham, the hangup is specifically over the amount of years involved. Gonzo wants us to guarantee him through age 36, the Sox would prefer to pay more over 6 years to cover themselves when he gets old.
  18. Pete Abraham (Globe) is questioning whether the 2 pm deadline was imposed by MLB, the Red Sox, or just an arbitrary time that the media came up with. Seems no one at Fenway mentioned that it was a must to finish it by then... MLB usually grants 72 hours for a sign/trade deal to get done... if the deal finished up overnight on Friday, the Sox still have plenty of time to make this happen.
  19. Yep... this is far from over.
  20. The lack of noise from the front office is really telling IMO... if this deal was completely dead, as Heyman would lead us to believe, I guarantee we'd have heard something to the effect of saying there were concerns about his shoulder or some s*** like that to downplay their inability to sign him. Not saying they won't do that tomorrow, but I really think there's more to come than what we've heard so far. The Werth signing should kick Theo in the ass... if that's the kind of money required to get a 31 year old OF, 8 years at $22 million per year ($176 million) should be perfectly acceptable
  21. Make that 7 years, $126 million for Werth ($18 million per)... good luck to the Nats in getting a solid ROI on that deal http://twitter.com/#!/ChrisSteuber/status/11540165327589376
