Well, he hasn't had a few good years like Nimmo. He's been a 2 fWAR guy. He's had some good SSS's over the years. I'm enjoying the current ride, but don't expect him to end the season with 6 fWAR or 9 walk off hits.

Nimmo got 20AAV after going to FA. Nimmo had over 14 fWAR through his first 520 games. Verdugo isn't at that level. Verdugo has been a 2 fWAR guy year in and year out. He's been better over a SSS. 15AAV?

You can take about "on pace for 6 fWAR" all you want, but he still only has 8.6 fWAR for his career. Verdugo 540 G 8.6 fWAR Reynolds (1 year older, can play CF) 520 G 13.5 fWAR Contract 8/106

He's decent, or at least was at one point. As long as his health has returned, he's not going to be an issue.

@billjamesonline The Yankees and Red Sox are both 15-14. Baseball Reference says that the Yankees' chance to make the post season is 68.4%; the Red Sox is 4.8%. The Red Sox September schedule must be REALLY tough, ya think?

So the guys that take the money and don't go to FA are what then? Do they not believe in themselves? Raffy doesn't care? Mike Trout doesn't think he'd make enough money if he hit FA? Mookie Betts is just dumb? Nolan Arenado doesn't want to be a winner? Bregman? Altuve?

He's just supposed to be competent. He's a high floor, low ceiling guy. The bigger issue will be if Paxton shows up and just takes a dump on the mound. Pivetta has the second best Starter's ERA for BOS. Hard to just bounce him.

@SoxNotes The Red Sox earned their 6th series win of the season on April 30. Last year, they secured their 6th series win on June 4. The Sox are 6-3-0 in series, after going 1-7-1 in their first 9 series of 2022. Getting swept by the Pirates and the Rays hurt, but both of those teams look legit now. Maybe the standings will even out in the long run?

Why would they bump Perales over Romero? If a player is out due to injury, they tend to not mark the player down. Has Perales done something to make him jump up? Not according to you. Drohan's start is comparable to Walter's in 2022. They weren't strapping a rocket to his rankings because of 4 games. If he goes up, it'll be a spot or two, but not 6.
