  1. Compares favorably to Richards, Seabold and Kluber. Ok? Those pitchers flat out sucked.
  2. If Crag extended Sale this offseason, I'm sure we'd all be very rational about it!
  3. I was willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until the Mookie stuff went down. That really broke my brain. I wanted to believe that Bloom could pick up the pieces after the fact and that ownership was just in dire need of resetting for the great good. However, it just seems to me that they are resetting just to save tax $$$. Henry sucks. I don't care about his checkbook. The Rays are the exception to the rule. Every team wants to be the Rays, but haven't figured it out. It's easy enough to say "let's do it that way" but they never got close even using the Rays Way guy. To me it just makes more sense for a bigger market team to follow what works for other big market teams, namely the Dodgers. Henry is just obsessed with how good Brad Pitt looked in the movie adaptation of Moneyball and can't get beyond it. Crag seems to have a certain set of skills that Bloom didn't have (pitching development, willingness to trade players). I'm somewhat hopeful, but will remain dubious about the overall ceiling going forward.
  4. @BRWalkoff Blake Snell has privately expressed an interest in playing for the Yankees, per @martinonyc
  5. I hope that Crag can be a better CBO than Bloom. I'm unsure how much money Henry will pump into the Sox going forward. Unfortunately, everything changed when they dealt Mookie.
  6. Plus a club option for year 3.
  7. We don't have anything better to do right now though. There's nothing else going on. Nobody is in Ft Myers working out. No games. He's one of the most recent transactions so he'll be the hot button topic for a little while.
  8. If you need to use Richards, Kluber and Seabold to bolster your claim that Wacha is a good pitcher, I don't know what to say.
  9. Nope, but can you blame us?
  10. Just make sure to exclude any years that corrupt your sample into looking bad for your argument!
  11. It would be the worst possible outcome. I don't think there's a chance though. It's more "interest kings" type nonsense.
  12. I'm on the faculty. Game recognizes game.
  13. Giolito Expected HR by Ballpark 2023: Actual HR 40 Fenway Expected HR 29 Past 3 years: Actual HR 91 Fenway Expected HR 59
  14. Giolito at Fenway: 252 tOPS+ Giolito with McGuire catching: 188 tOPS+ Maybe stick him with Wong as his personal catcher! Out of all the catchers that received him at least 10 times, the worst was Grandal at 101 tOPS+. Seems like he does best with a consistent guy behind the plate.
  15. The website still has a picture of Xander on the Who We Are page. Talk about not being able to read the room...
  16. They "went for it" after dealing Vaz? They were actively shopping JD and Sale, but Bloom couldn't pull the trigger because of his fear of losing a trade. Bloom f'd up. That's all there is too it.
  17. He received CY votes in 3 straight years. Wacha has never received a single CY vote. If the Sox can tap into something with Giolito, it's good news for '24. His ceiling is so much higher. He's also 3 years younger.
  18. In your 3 year sample that you berate people about: Giolito 3.97 xFIP (sky falling on his performance) includes 140 more innings Wacha 4.13 xFIP (why didn't we keep this guy?!?!?!)
  19. This is going to be another one of "those" topics on here? All I know is that there are enough Rays fans calling him a scumbag that have been following the story so I don't know why Red Sox fans would want to provide him cover.
  20. The price will always be too high going forward. The Sox will always believe the market value is more than what it should be. Henry is still stuck on Moneyball, a theory that produced zero WS titles in its homeland.
  21. They went over on accident on a last place team! The signs were there last season when he got pissy about Cohen and stuck up for small market teams.
  22. It only took a few short seasons, but Henry blackpilled us on the Sox.
  23. Nope. I was just saying that they COULD get an ace for that package.
  24. Nobody is taking on that contract and it's not enough of a salary dump for the Sox to bring in Monty or Snell anyway. Maybe he has a big year and they can dump him in the offseason?
