  1. Former Sox legend Baerga had bad knees unfortunately.
  2. I bet Song struggles again this season and retires.
  3. Move him from the rotation to the pen and back to the rotation where it will take him 4-5 starts to get stretched out again?
  4. Why make those moves just to add some lower end arms? Anyone you sign for 5M this offseason will be worse than Crawford.
  5. I'm not convinced he's an upgrade over Houck anymore. Was he injured last year?
  6. What’s the plan in Boston? The Red Sox held their annual Winter Weekend fan event over the weekend, during which team officials made headlines by indicating the club is unlikely to match last year’s payroll in 2024 and suggesting the team doesn’t need to add another starting pitcher after swapping out Chris Sale for Lucas Giolito (despite making starting pitching a focus of the offseason). Even as club officials were downplaying expectations, local reporting indicated that the club remains in contact with free agent starters, including top-of-the-market southpaw Jordan Montgomery. There’s little question that the Red Sox, who finished 22nd in the majors last year with a 4.68 rotation ERA, would benefit from an impact addition at the top of their rotation, particularly after losing a high-upside arm like Sale, but there’s certainly question about whether they’ll actually make such a move. I'd rather them just continue to not say anything and do nothing than get our hopes up and put out word that they are in on every FA.
  7. If you sign 3, it's kicking 2 valuable guys to AAA. I think they can really only sign one more starter for the back end of the rotation.
  8. He doesn't generate a lot of whiffs or have good velo (Crag's preference). Why dump a prospect for Urquidy's profile?
  9. He was the sales and marketing guy underneath Larry going back to San Diego.
  10. They asked him to be forward facing last year since Henry wasn't going to be around and I don't remember hearing from Kennedy at all in 2023 except before and after the season.
  11. Maybe it depends where they are at the deadline?
  12. Will they do a preemptive extension to Teel, Anthony or Mayer the way some other teams have?
  13. 2015 - 5 Aces 2024 - 13 Aces
  14. No, they are going to fix all of their pitchers by turning them all into starters I think.
  15. I believe they extended Manny and Thome, but not Lofton? I hated CLE back in the day. That damn Joey Belle.
  16. At this point, Van Belle is just a warm body.
  17. I'm sure he'll sign someone. You get what you pay for.
  18. They'll need to decide between Altuve and Bregman. The big problem is that their top prospects don't play either position. I have no idea what their plan is. Maybe they are just going to spend for the next few years and try to win as much as possible with the current group and take the payroll hits and other implications?
  19. I wasn't saying spending this year. I'm saying they need to manage the budget going forward so they can't buy guys like Monty. They will need to extend young players though because that's what other teams have done to manage payroll efficiently.
  20. Off NESN or off Red Sox broadcasts? That's 2 different things.
  21. Right now, doesn't seem like a lot of offers on the table for 60% of the market?
  22. Right now, the starters in AAA look pretty weak especially once you move Winckowski back to the pen. Max Castillo Brandon Walter Richard Fitts Grant Gambrell Brian Van Belle
  23. Realistic is 75 Optimistic is 80 I think the team already seems pretty similar to what they had last season for the most part with a slight downgrade in the rotation Sale & Paxton vs Giolito. If they add another arm that pushes Houck to the pen, I'd probably change my mind.
  24. Monty is good. Masa will have a comeback year. The only question is we don't know the budgetary restrictions going forward. If Henry has a strict limit well under the CBT, I don't know if I want to spend 25M+ on Monty for 5-6 years. It would tie up too much of what I need to spend towards a true ace and extending younger players. There's just different math involved when you have a miserly owner.
