  1. And if he signs for more, it's ok. It would just be bad if he signs elsewhere for less. Remains to be seen what happens.
  2. Not for much longer as the state is going to increase the age of dancers to 21!
  3. Yes, but the Sox need to actually give the team a chance to win by adding to the rotation! If Story and Yoshida work out, this team is still only half baked (2/3d's?)!
  4. Agreed. All 4 Sox WS teams had lucky health years and were able to replace one injury via trade (Peavy/Eovaldi) or callup (Lester/Buchholz).
  5. This is a lie. We have Florida Snow.
  6. Rangers: add Semien, Seager, deGrom and Eovaldi (plus a host of starting pitchers) over the course of two offseasons How in the world did they get good??? It's a mystery to me!
  7. Yeah, I heard a scouting report this offseason that his IF defense was good, but inconsistent. He just has a natural ability to play OF. I wouldn't risk him getting taken out at SS.
  8. http://news.soxprospects.com/2024/02/how-red-sox-draft-strategy-has-affected.html I'm putting this year because it's less likely to get buried. It's a piece written by Ian Cundall about the recent draft strategy that is hitter focused and generally ignores pitching and the effect it has on developing home grown pitching. Some quick takeaways: Sox are dead last in bonus pool spending on pitching since 2018. Of the 31 pitchers in the top 100, 30 were drafted and only one were IFA's (2024). For last year, it was 25 draftees and 2 IFA's. Half of the top 100 pitchers are from the 1st round. The next quarter are from rounds 2 and 3.
  9. 150/6 is a little high, but not unreasonable. I don't think the ERod comp is terrible and I don't know why the Sox didn't pursue him more. I'd go 22 AAV, so 132/6 max.
  10. @alexspeier Cora said Rafaela will be the CF if he makes the team, but TBD if he opens in AAA or the big leagues. “The defensive game is elite. It’s a game-changer.”
  11. @ChrisCotillo Alex Cora was asked if he wants to return as Red Sox manager in 2025: "I don’t want to talk about that right now." Thank you for this lame duck year, Henry.
  12. @ChrisCotillo Cora confirms Yoshida will get the lion’s share of DH at-bats.
  13. I'm fine with a Woodruff signing and have advocated for it this offseason. They've done it with lesser pitchers so my guess it that his demands are a bit higher than what we may be comfortable with for an injured pitcher.
  14. I see Mata as not being around at the end of March.
  15. This just waves away all arguments that us plebes can have.
  16. 17 - 2.6 18 - TJS 19 - TJS 20 - 0.9 * 3 = 2.7 21 - 3.2 22 - 2.7 23 - 4.3 If you average his non-TJS years, he has a 3.1 fWAR average per year.
  17. Every team needs that. I don't know why he hasn't signed unless he's really holding out until the last second. That seems to be what Boras is doing with all 4 guys.
  18. The same class next year that every other team will also bid on? The prices won't be any cheaper and some of the pitchers may sign an extension before then.
  19. Texas' rotation may have been bland, but they were relatively healthy. Gray, Dunning, Heaney and Perez didn't miss significant time. Eovaldi had his normal year and it wasn't a huge surprise that deGrom was sidelined. Having 5 guys that can just take the ball competently most days plays a big role in just racking up the fWAR.
  20. Could I sell you on 82 games?
  21. A career .250 hitter to be fair.
  22. At least give our beefy boy a chance.
  23. Oh, you're going to add actual logic to this conversation?
  24. He just wants to save Henry some money.
