    Go back in time and redo '23 and '24 with reasonable moves: Sign Swanson SS 7/180, move Story to 2B (a move we discussed on here) Sign Eflin or Eovaldi SP 3/60 Sign Wacha 1/12 Sign Kenly/Martin/Duvall/Turner/don't sign Masa/don't sign Kluber Sign Wacha SP 2/36 Sign Teoscar LF 3/48 Sign Flaherty SP 1/15 Does this turn the Sox into the division leaders? No, but it keeps them closer to the playoffs IMO.

    Mike Trout 426M Stanton 324M Xander 280M Arenado 260M So an 80% hit rate? Remains to be seen for some of the other guys though. That hit rate could drop a little.

    Wilson has been a good to great reliever in the past. He's a lefty and the Sox don't have a lot of great LHP options. He had a 3.29 FIP at the ASB. 919 OPS vs LHB (6 HR's) in 2024 vs career 704 OPS vs LHB. Home OPS of 931 (7 HR's). Cincy had a 142 park factor for LHB hitting HR's for the last 3 seasons far and away leading MLB. Working with Bailey and getting him out of Cincy could be a good way to turn Wilson around. If it doesn't work, it's a very cheap contract to DFA.

    Mookie was the biggest screw up this team has had in many decades. They couldn't have bungled that worse.

    He's still young AND he's a LHP. No reason to DFA him yet. 3.70 FIP with the old horrible pitching coach. 87th percentile hard hit% 64th percentile GB% 73rd percentile xERA 75th percentile offspeed run value Metrics really hate his 4 seamer. Just let Bailey work with him and see what you got. This team isn't stocked with LHP talent.

    It's not my money so it's really easy for me to bang the drum on signing him for 3/4's of a BILLION dollars. For a guy that's not even as good as Mookie!

    Oh sure. Any guy that pitches towards the end of the game picks up a few chances during the year. They may even give him a shot at the beginning of the year. I just don't think he's going to have the best stuff out there.

    I don't think Hendriks is going to be the closer. He hasn't had closer stuff since getting cancer.

    He will probably be paid 45M AAV. That's close to what his annual value is per FanGraphs now, but what about the last 7-8 years of the deal? Will he Albert Pujols? One injury and that contract is a freaking anchor. You could split that contract in half and get 2 really good starting pitchers for it that could give you more value.

    Crochet extension? Anthony used in the trade for Crochet? Mayer? I don't know how I feel about Bregman. He could look really good swing for the monster, but it's a lot of money that we already have stupidly tied up in the bad contracts of Story and Masataka. I'd be shocked if Martin re-signs for 2M.

    I like Sogard as well. Hamilton provided a lot of value to the Sox. I think the Sox can do better than either of those guys.

    We also know that the 12 '06 guys listed all made the bigs. We have no clue what the long term outlook is for the '24 guys yet. Most likely there will be some flameouts. The 7th ranked prospect in midseason of '06 was Edgar Martinez. He was out of pro ball after '08. The September rankings included Kris Johnson 8th and Jason Place 9th. At least Johnson got a cup of coffee. Place never even made it to AAA.

    I think we're all very excited for him and think he's going to be A DUDE. We just don't know what his ceiling will be. Fun to have more MiLB guys to follow at each level. I wouldn't have him start at Salem either because the pitching isn't great and the field is death to hitters. Greenville is a good test for him, but it wouldn't be really throwing him in the deep end. The other 2024 college offensive draftees appeared in Greenville at the end of last season.
