  1. The MOJO system seems to have worked well.
  2. That sounds great. I know there's been TalkSox meetups in ST in the past. Maybe we'll be able to get a group down there again this year. Looking forward to all the changes.
  3. The best way to add them is to develop them and that's what they are trying to do. Juan Valera is pitching his ass off in Salem right now. Monegro hasn't given up a run in 29 innings.
  4. Does this mean we really have to care about the Mayor's Cup now?
  5. The popular podcasts are: Section 10 (not analytical, but most popular and are having their own Fenway Night coming up) The Pesky Report (some prospect, some MLB) Pod by the River (mostly MLB, good if you want Sox version of Frank the Tank) Play Tessie (Red Sox jouralist nepobaby podcast) Not Another Sox Podcast Pod on Landsdowne Beyond the Monster Even if you don't listen to them all (I don't), the hosts are good follows on Twitter.
  6. A lot of inexperienced guys that have been asked to pitch differently than they have ever had to before. If the emphasis is "throw strikes," there is more of a tendency to leave a pitch over the middle than if a guy is nibbling and is tired IMO.
  7. Thank you for not letting the site die.
  8. @ChrisCotillo Sources: Barring something unforeseen before first pitch, Triston Casas is expected to be activated for the Red Sox in Baltimore tonight. The wait is over.
  9. Some scouts like him a lot, some scouts are very dubious on his hitting potential. Therefore, he doesn't have Yount or Kaline's ceiling.
  10. They had the number 1 pick, all the guys they wanted to sign just wanted to pull an Eli Manning. It's why you don't fire your CBO/GM/Pres of Baseball Ops every few years when you get a wild hair up your ass even though you are never around the team.
  11. It's not the pitches, it's the location. If the pitch is middle/middle, it's going a long way. The arms are just tired and they can't locate anymore.
  12. 73 k's in 6 games against these teams: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BAL/2019.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/COL/2019.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/2019.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/KCR/2019.shtml BAL and KC were minor league teams that year too.
  13. You're ignoring everything else about Chris Sale after his shoulder injury in July 2018 so why shouldn't I?
  14. July 5.86 ERA, 2.3 HR/9 Aug 5.40 ERA, 2.0 HR/9
  15. 97th percentile hard hit in 2018 52nd percentile hard hit in 2019 Fastball velo 78th percentile 2018 Fastball velo 47th percentile 2019 I can do this all day.
  16. His 3.82 ERA over that timeframe is what you're trying to highlight? 1.2 HR/9 that was twice as high as 2018?
  17. He was clearly not 100% at the end of the year. Prior to the injury, he averaged 6.1 per start. The longest he went after was 5.1 in 7 tries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was clearly injured.
  18. The Angels do it with some of their guys. I'm not sure anyone wants to be like the Angels though.
  19. Hendriks to rehab in WOO on Sunday.
  20. Wow! That means he was totally healthy, right!
  21. Every start after hitting the IL: 9/11 1 IP 9/16 3 IP 9/21 3 IP 9/26 4.2 IP 10/5 5.1 IP 10/13 4 IP 10/23 4 IP He was totally healthy!
  22. Yes he was. He only pitched 158 innings in 2018. Didn't pitch at all from Aug 13 - Sept 10 due to a shoulder injury. From Over the Monster: Sale suffered a shoulder injury in late-July, then came back for one amazing start in August — one hit and 12 strikeouts over five innings against the Orioles — before missing another month with the same ailment. Once he got back, Sale made four starts in September to finish the year, but they weren’t typical starts. Instead, he was being eased back in to get ready for the postseason. It was the right move for the team, but it did cost the southpaw a legitimate chance at the Cy Young. Then, the postseason rolled around and the team was hoping to get the midsummer version of their ace on the biggest stage... For his standards, this was a negative as he never recorded more than 16 outs in a start and finished the playoffs with a 4.11 ERA. The team won four of the five games in which he appeared, but he wasn’t the dominant Sale we wanted to see. The ace is set to hit free agency after the 2019 campaign, which means we can be expected to hear a whole lot of extension talk throughout the year, unless it gets done sooner. He has expressed an interest to get something done, per reports. As far as him on the mound, his shoulder should recover through rest this offseason, and the team will be sure to take it easy on him in spring training.
  23. Some people on here treat each regular season game like it's more important than that surgery.
  24. So then you add a guy to the 40 man that you can't take off without DFAing no matter how poor his bat is. Eventually you burn through his option years and by the time he's 23 he'll need to be MLB ready or you'll have to release him.
  25. And if you really like the guy, why start his MLB clock before he can really handle MLB pitching?
