  1. Henry likes to come up with a $ value and stick with it. It always comes back and bites him in the ass in the end. You hire a GM for a reason, let them manage the team's finances.
  2. His plane will be rolling away that's for sure. I'm sure he has better things to do than spend on the Sox right now. 🧛‍♂️
  3. Beltre's one year in BOS was a higher fWAR than any season YOOOOOOOUK had here. He was a decent player, but overrated IMO. Mo Vaughn 94-98: 24.2 fWAR, an average of 4.8 Most people today without looking at the numbers would say Youk was much better than Mo probably. Youk is treated almost as a folk hero whereas Mo is the butt of a joke.
  4. I'm not buying into ANY hype this year. They could be in on a middle reliever and I'm not going to believe it's true.
  5. If the window is the next 3 years, why not ignore the cap and just go for it while the players are still in their prime? You'll never get those years back.
  6. People get very upset over the definition of what is and isn't an "ace." On here, people will always use that word to denote Roger, Pedro, Sale and peak Beckett. It may not be a fair term to put on every pitcher that is put in the #1 spot. I don't think Flaherty should be the #1 guy in the rotation. Houck shouldn't either. I think they need someone else to be the #1 guy to lead the staff.
  7. Even if they are in the exact same W/L scenario 2020-2024, they would be much better going forward with Mookie on board than what they did otherwise. He's just a dynamic player who should age fairly well and a guy you can build around and market for a long, long time.
  8. Yankees fans deserved an ugly ending considering the nonsense from Game 4 and all the cope they had trying to protect that one doofus and his friend.
  9. He's fine as a #2. He's not a TOTR though.
  10. Flaherty isn't really the mark of consistency to begin with. I'm not hitching my trailer to him with a big contract.
  11. I'll be happy if we only get one post each and every year!
  12. It was better than the Sale extension when we all saw that Sale was injured at the time.
  13. Even if he's raking, it would take something incredibly drastic at the MLB level for him to get there on Opening Day. They are going to take their time with him no matter what. Spring Training stats have value, but he had zero AB's at AAA last year and there were platoon issues last season offspeed pitch issues to work on as well from what I remember. He's not at Campbell or Anthony's level.
  14. Yes, he was kind of all over the map which it's why the contract kind of works out in the end. Maybe? You have to talk yourself into it and it's only because of 2021.
  15. Henry did force pay cuts on fulltime employees very early on into COVID and also had no problem laying off a bunch of staff later in the year. Pathetic for a billionaire IMO. https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2020/05/30/red-sox-full-time-employees-pay-cut/ https://www.bostonherald.com/2020/09/17/red-sox-announce-more-layoffs-as-covid-19-continues-to-take-its-toll/
  16. Price definitely underperformed his contract, but the Sox needed to sign a guy like him. They should have just signed Max a year beforehand.
  17. Dear Mr Well Actually, he was paid $57.3M over the life of the contract including the COVID adjustment.
  18. In order of most liked at the time of acquisition: Devers extension Ottavino trade Schwarber trade Seabold/Pivetta trade Story signing (media really liked it) Adam Duvall signing
  19. He was having a pretty good year in 2020. Maybe a longer season makes the value even better? IDK. It wasn't the worst deal in the world, but it didn't really knock my socks off.
  20. Story was an uninspiring choice for sure. I don't think anyone thought he'd have the overwhelming injury issues he's had. We knew he had the arm issue that needed fixing (should have been addressed on day one), but he's had a string of bad luck injuries too.
  21. There are no studies that show sliders or offspeed pitches cause more injuries. What probably cause more injuries is throwing at max effort over and over again.
  22. Per Baseball America, the average age for AA hitters is 24. I think getting there at 21 is on the young side.
  23. He started off 2023 well for the CHW: 117 ERA+, 21 GS. It just ended really, really poorly with the Angels. He was a solid pitcher from 19-21. I think there were hopes that Bailey would be able to settle him down and at least make him a respectable #2/3. I don't think anyone really saw him as a true TOTR guy.
