Romy has 41 total professional games at 1B. The majority of those games are while playing for Boston.
It shouldn't be THAT hard to find a backup 1B/DH type. They have certainly struggled to do it though.
If they want consistent defense out of Campbell, moving him all over the field isn't going to work. We saw how it took a great defender (Rafaela) and turned him into a below average one over the short term.
Wong was trying to get as close to the plate as possible to frame a pitch. If they just added the robo umps already, these catching interferences would go away. I feel like we're starting to see more and more of these than ever before.
That just keeps Romy and Refsnyder in the lineup against LHP. I think they'd at least try to switch to a RHP midway and then switch back after Romy and Refsnyder are back on the bench.
I think Newcomb goes to the pen. Stock gets DFA'd. Slaten could also get optioned to AAA as he hasn't looked very good early on. Maybe he needs something tweaked.
Maddux nibbled so much that he could barely get out of the 7th inning most time! Give me a real man like Rube Waddell who would only leave a game early if a firetruck ran by or if he had to go out fishing.
Fitts doesn't generate a lot of in zone whiffs so he relies on hitters chasing out of the zone. That's why patient hitters can get him nibbling an 0-2 count to a 3-2 count.
I think that's about what he pitched last time? 50/3 IP was the first time out goal for him and Bello. At some point, it needs to get cranked up a little higher as there is a deadline for how long they can stay rehabbing in AAA.
