  1. I don't think people are saying they WANT to pay him that much, just that they'd be willing to go that high.
  2. There's a lot of money coming off the payroll starting in 2026. I don't think any deal affects his pay for 2025.
  3. Watching him in 2023, he didn't look completely terrible. We've definitely seen worse.
  4. FA contracts have gone way up since then. He’s getting more.
  5. You are putting an offer out there that’s good enough that you don’t have to negotiate with 29 other teams.
  6. They also realize they won’t be able to extend him longterm. May as well trade him when he has value and you have a need.
  7. Belllo is a #4. Crochet is a #1. They have nothing to do with each other.
  8. Well, Casas would be swapped in a trade and alonso provides balance as a RHB.
  9. They made it to .500 last year!!! Give them a little break…
  10. Pedro was great in RBI Baseball for NES. Need to bring that bat to the current Sox team.
  11. Their roster is a mess and the corners have LHB’s at the moment. He’ll be on the Opening Day roster IMO.
  12. That's not the strategy though. They face the top of the order for the third time in the vast majority of all of their starts (Bello, Crawford, Houck, Giolito in 2023).
  13. I'm just saying I'd think about going that high if I needed to.
  14. I've never visited the arcane world of MLB arbitration so it's hard to say one way or the other. They still have time to come to agreement before it gets that far.
  15. No opt out gets the Sox to keep an ace here for several years if he stays healthy and productive. That's the difference.
  16. I mean, I feel the same way I did as the day Mookie was traded. It's up to them to fix it. 🫠
  17. No different than every ARB negotiation. An increase now has a cascading impact on ARB years 2, 3 and 4. They are trying to save money on all 4 years, not just 2025.
  18. If Crochett is going to walk because he won't sign a Cole deal, I wouldn't agree to an opt out after '27. It provides protection for him and screws over the Red Sox if he has a career ending injury. Might as well make it a mutual option so the Sox can get out of it. Breslow needs to nut up and give an offer that is good enough that he doesn't feel like he needs to test the market.
  19. The established projection system that hasn't always projected very well in the past. Let's compare notes at the end of the season!
  20. It's not really one less. With a six man rotation, the bullpen will be the same size it was back when they won all their WS titles.
  21. Is Breslow ballsy enough to give him a HUGE contract to stick around as the ace of the team for the next 5-6 years?
