  1. https://talksox.com/forums/topic/88826-talk-sox-prospect-voting-is-complete/#comment-2981247 Per this he was ranked #8 in September. https://talksox.com/forums/topic/88937-october-2024-prospect-voting-closed/#comment-2981889 Per this he was ranked #10 in October. Everyone who has voted for a prospect has had him 20th or higher (majority had him top 10) so he should have never been listed as unranked. If it was done so, it was in error.
  2. Even if they sign outside players, they should work on extensions. They should sign extensions for Campbell and Anthony a day after they appear in their first MLB game (the morning of regular season game #2).
  3. From MLBTradeRumors at the time of the extension: The Red Sox have formally announced the contract as a 10-year extension with Devers, spanning the 2024-33 seasons. As reported last night, that keeps his 2023 luxury tax hit at $17.5MM (the sum of the one-year deal he agreed to in order to avoid arbitration), while the $31.35MM luxury hit on his extension will go into effect in 2024.
  4. It'll be treated like Devers' extension where the lux tax hit will begin the following season. Raffy signed in Jan '23, but the luxury tax didn't increase until '24.
  5. Is he playing 162 games at Fenway now? If you we want to see Busch vs Fenway, you'd just have to overlay a Home spray chart rather than a full 162. His drop in SLG and bat speed year over year is a problem as he can no longer hit any fastball. When an offensive player reaches that stage in his career, it's virtually over. If the Cards aren't going to eat any money, it's just not worth it at 25.5M against the CBT. He's maybe a 2 fWAR guy so the Cards would have to eat about 30M for it to be worthwhile IMO. I'd rather they not acquire either guy, but if I'm picking my poison it's not Arenado. Bregman is going to cost a lot more money, but is a much better player and has positional versatility.
  6. Cardinal fan's perspective on the Arenado situation: https://www.scoopswithdannymac.com/bernies-redbird-review-why-is-the-nolan-arenado-trade-market-so-cold/ The Cardinals will not take on a large sum of Arenado’s contract just for the sake of moving him. 2021: 41.4 percent pulled, 32 home runs, and 30.7% of his pulled fly balls were homers. 2022: 37.2% pulled, 28 home runs, and 30.7% of his pulled fly balls were homers. 2023: 34.3% pulled, 20 home runs, and 29.4% of his pulled flies were homers. 2024: 32.6% pulled, 13 home runs, and only 20.6% of his pulled flies were homers. – He had a .459 slugging percentage on fastballs in 2021 – A .606 slug on fastballs in 2022 – A .500 slug on fastballs in 2023 – A .416 slugging percentage on heaters in ’24 Arenado was in the bottom 28 percent of all big-league hitters in bat speed last season. The lefthanders have been owning Arenado with breaking pitches and offspeed stuff since the start of 2023. He has a .221 average and .286 slug on breaking balls, and a .234 average and .325 slug against offspeed offerings.
  7. Maybe if the pitcher they traded for was 30. Crochet is 25. He's 3 years younger than Houck and Crawford. Two other Sox pitchers that are 25: Bello and Fitts. Crochet is the future.
  8. Because they are going to extend him.
  9. The Giants have had 3 more regular season wins than the Sox over the past three years. This has nothing to do with "the struggles the org has faced the past three years." It has everything to do with Sasaki wanting to play in CA.
  10. His defense is only going to get worse from here on out too.
  11. I don't believe the Red Sox are in a contention window. Continuing to trade from a future core for a Catcher entering his mid 30's is a really bad idea. If this was a team that was already in the playoffs and needed a move to get them to the WS, fine. They are not there.
  12. Good 4 seamer, bad cutter. Seems to be the opposite of what they've been going for. The more arms the better though.
  13. Yeah, we've already seen what Casas is at 1B, might as well try Devers.
  14. If Campbell and Anthony are as good as people say they are, they can contribute to a competitive team. I don't see a reason to keep the training wheels on them. If they faulter, just option them back to AAA.
  15. Well I’ve already stated it was a punt season so…
  16. He needs more PA’s to be able to figure it out. Won’t get that against inconsistent LHP relief appearances.
  17. I guess. I think Campbell is a 2b, but would be fine in LF.
  18. Then who specifically fired Bloom? Was it put up for a shareholder vote or did Henry make the call?
  19. One of my favorite exercises: MLB meets Dr Demento.
  20. Need to find 6M more like minded posters.
  21. He hates doing it, but he did it for David Price 2020-2022 and Chris Sale 2024. In 2023, he paid almost 14M for Barnes and Kiké to play elsewhere..
  22. This may be a punt year, but Lucy won't pull the football away next year.
